I liked the infinity symbol when I imagined it in shiny steel, but the actual AFF logo...
pastels are so strongly associated with early childhood.
childhood+infinity=autism?

DemonAbyss10 Good one. :D

dro1dguy: full points for originality. I think I have that belt.

beautiful ribbon meerkat, but what about those of us who are not cat people?

ediself, are you perhaps a dog person? :)

And for those of you who don't see the need for a symbol, then clearly, it's simply not for you. One less thing to think about.

Some of us like symbols. My very first "special interest" was the full color flag section of the World Book Encyclopedia.
Novelty within the framework of familiarity. I was two, and I liked to sit on the floor by the bookshelves, and look at it before breakfast.

You could think of a group's symbol as their flag. The puzzle piece will never be my flag, and this has very little, specifically to do with Autism Speaks. I dislike the puzzle piece because it represents a view of us from across the room. Someone else's NT perspective. Who do you want to design your flag? Someone from your own country, or someone from another country, with an opinion about you, that you do not share?

I vote for sharks with laser beams too.
Because Dr Evil is friggin' cool!

Seriously, though, no more ribbons! Everyone has a dang ribbon, I'm sick of ribbons.

How about a simple square overlapping a circle. To symbolize the square peg in round hole idea.

on second thought, how about combine the ideas :P

Or, at least some ill-tempered mutant sea bass.

I drew this years ago, long before I'd ever heard of Asperger's. It has both infinity symbols and impossible cubes. I remembered it when I saw this discussion and thought I'd post about it, just for fun.

That's cool. I like the impossible box. Maybe with infinity inside it. Or a cat. Hmm Schroedinger.

I think that the cat should be the symbol for AS. Meow. :O)

I have to admit that I did trace the shark in Photoshop from a more detailed illustration I found on the internet.
But the laser beam is all mine.

PS: I suspect that Dr Evil might have aspergers. His social problems are obvious, petting the cat & the pinkey thing looks like stimming to me, and he feels he is surrounded by a bunch of frikin idiots.

maybe he should be the symbol :P

Thats it! A cat!

A siamese cat to be spefic. They are the most independent of all.

My siamese is about as unsiamese acting as they get.

Better a cat than Dr Evil. I can't look at that picture of him. It feels too awful. (I've never seen the movie, and I don't plan to.)

Now it looks like we are all homosexual. Not that I dislike how it looks, its just that rainbows are already taken.

LOL I KNOW EH! some people do associate rainbows with neurodiversity though. I was suggesting that Nyan cat would be mad anyway. Maybe if we asked nice he'd represent us. My little Autie sister loves that thing. Makes baby sitting much easier.

Picking a symbol like a cat to emphasize independence when most autistics are totally dependent on other people seems like a bad choice.

I like the sqaure and the circle since it's simple.
