A new label should be "Disorder - NOS".

I wanted to give an update.

I I made a conclusion too early last time. It didn't take long before he dismissed the theory of me having a Schizoid Personality Disorder, and he hadn't really gone away from Aspergers at all, but just wanted to be completely sure.

What happened was that he got the papers he had requested from my childhood and what I discovered was that I had huge problems in a social setting when I was younger, so much that the kindergarten and the school contacted outside personnel to find out what's wrong. I thinked out loud, didn't know when it wasn't my turn to talk, didn't socialize well with others and always said the answers out loud when I knew what it was etc. They did some tests and thought me out to have a Nonverbal learning disorder since my language was pretty well developed. Which the way I understand it correlates with Aspergers (it even said so on Wikipedia, and my Psychiatrist said the same). It was even written about me that I didn't seem that interested in the tasks the school was giving me and somewhat what the other children did, but was more interested in nature, animals and astronomy.

Quote:
NLD involves deficits in perception, coordination, socialisation, non-verbal problem-solving and understanding of humour, along with well-developed rote memory.[3] As most people with Asperger syndrome (AS) fit the criteria for NLD, a diagnosis of AS is often preferred.[3] In this instance, some researchers assert that an AS diagnosis is more clinically useful than an NLD diagnosis, and argue that NLD would be an example of excessive diagnostic splitting. However, NLD can also occur with other disorders. As with Asperger syndrome, NLD exists on a spectrum, and those affected can experience it in a range of ways. Those with an NLD diagnosis can experience some or all of the symptoms, and to varying degrees. Ongoing debate surrounds the relationship between Asperger syndrome and NLD, as research on the condition is ongoing and procedures can differ from AS research.

Aspergers does make a lot of more sense now, and I am 100% positive that I do have Aspergers and my Psychiatrist thinks the same. He just needs to take the test results and what's written about me to a neurologist to make sure. Finally I can take a burden off my chest.

I feel kind of relived finally not doubting anymore.

My thanks to anyone who answered my thread in the past.
