Like a lot of others, I also cannot stand for people to touch my things. Especially my computer, but also can't stand for my SO or housemates to use anything of mine and treat it any differently than I would. I don't mind sharing, if you'll treat my things the way I treat them. Someone keeps getting out my special edition LOTR dvds (a prized possession that I treat like a living thing) and leaving them shiny-side-up by the TV!
Also when you're listening to music in the car and you've just turned up the music, and someone else turns it back down to start talking. And I'm the one that can't take a hint?
I can't take people cleaning my living space around me. Anywhere else is fine, but if it's something I'm going to have to deal with just let me do it. I'm going to go behind you and change a million little things anyway, because you didn't arrange the glasses by material and you didn't break down the soda boxes before putting them in the trash. Also, why does one of these go over here but the rest go over there? People being disorganized and inefficient with their plans and then expecting me to help and not get annoyed even though I could do it five times faster.

Oh yes - I am definately bothered about the tiniest things. Here's a small list:-

-My mum or my auntie sneezing, because they do about 20 sneezes when they have a sneezing session
-The kitchen drawer opened very slightly, it's OK if it's wide open or shut on, but not just a tiny bit open. It seems to annoy me and I end up angrily slamming it shut to get the tension of irritation off of me
-A cold drought coming from an open door (I think this annoys most people though)
-People yawning loudly
-People saying ''Christmas pud'' instead of ''Christmas pudding'', or saying ''op'' instead of ''operation''
-People mentioning the rules of conformity, like ''oh I think I look funny doing that''
-People saying ''you're like a 2-year-old'' or ''stop acting like a little kid''
-The TV being on in the day (between 9:30am to 5:00pm)
-My mum talking about her childhood with her sisters
-My dad laying across the sofa (that annoys my mum aswell)
-People turning the volume on the TV right up when I talk
-Getting in people's way in shops
-People saying ''ssshh'' to me, or putting their finger to their lips to non-verbally tell me to shush
-Somebody having a tag sticking out of their clothes
-My auntie having a boyfriend (God knows why I seem to get jealous of my auntie and no-one else)
-Worrying that my hairstyle makes me look unnattractive, yet being too unenthusiastic to change it
-People wanting to watch something on the TV just when I talk
-Having my brother being in the same room as me
-Hearing noises in the kitchen when I'm in my room on the computer

Those things annoy me too.

There are a lot of strange things that upset me-- I've had this for as long as I can remember. I cannot stand it when I:
- see people holding their pens or cutlery the (in my opinion) wrong way;
- see people with one sleeve up and one sleeve down;
- hear people sucking their spit in through their teeth;
- see open cupboards/drawers;
- see people with one leg/foot on a chair/the couch and the other one on the floor;
- hear my mother laugh (she truly has a terrible laugh).

This list is much longer but this post's not really about the things on the list as much as it is about my reaction to them. Whenever I see someone with uneven sleeves (for example) I feel this rush of hatred/anger. It's like being punched in the stomach-- I can feel the adrenaline being released, I start grinding my teeth, clenching my fists and pushing my nails into my skin, sometimes I even growl. Why do these idiotic things set me off? I try not to show my anger to anyone because I find it so stupid; nobody knows I feel this way. I can get SO upset over these things and it bothers me so much. I can also snap at people when they ask dumb questions, I can feel the rage come up the same way as when I see anything on the list.

Does anyone have any experience with this? If you could help me deal with this I'd be forever grateful.

I think everyone I know is like this: we all have weird pet peeves - it isn't a special autistic thing.

I wouldn't want to be rid of such ideosyncracies sompletely, they're too interesting.

I for one can't say "merry christmas" on the day itself and have not done so for several years.

Hm. What bothers you about this one?
Curious.

I don't know really....it just changes the atmosphere. I think it's because I'm so used to my mum always being home in the day and she never puts the TV on when she's home, and my dad and my brother work all day in the week, so the TV does not normally go on until they start coming in from work, and before 9:30am we have ''breakfast news'' on, and that's always been on in the morning.

I think it's a routinal thing for me.

Open drawers and cabinets bother me too. My kids leave them open all the time.

People who are supposed to be in authority or are supposed to be better educted than the rest of us, using words wrong. An example of that is a reporter on tv saying that someone's house was "robbed". It's "burglarized". A robbery is commited on a person, a burglery is commited on a residence, unless it's a home invasion type robbery. Also, a local cop in my area who seems to really believe that "police brutality" is when someone says something mean to him!

Also, I dislike "I could care less". That means you do care. It's "I couldn't care less"

I hate when people mispronounce foreign words.

I hate when people confuse Darwinism with evolution.

I hate when people use capital letters on the wrong words, although I may be guilty of that myself as I get older.

The same as above relating to incorrect grammar and spelling.

I hate when people misuse "I" and "me". It's "My friend and I went..." or "She invited my friend and me...." Also, people putting "I" before the other person in a sentence.

When my husband says "munster" instead of "monster".

When people talk to animals in a baby talk tone and use baby talk to them.

When people confuse a cross and a crucifix.

When Protestants insist that I believe something that I do not believe, ie; they misunderstand Catholic teaching and insist that I must be lying because some lay preacher who didn't even go to seminary told them so.

Christmas wreaths on the grills of cars.

Hats on dogs.

People wearing cheap baseball caps that are made of foam in the front and have the little adjust-a-size strip on the back.

A single pony tail on one side of the head.

Chipped nail polish on anyone except a model who is on the runway dressed in "heroin chic", which thank God seems to be over now.

Ugh I hate it when that happens! That's why whenever I meet someone who says they're a Christian (which is a rarity these days), I don't tell them I'm Catholic out of fear that they're Protestant and they'll get on their high horse about how "wrong" my branch of Christianity is.

My sister and her husband are both Protestants and they completely misunderstand what we Catholics believe and practice. What's even worse is that they have the nerve to say that they've "researched it thoroughly" when they get even the basics wrong!

People not finishing their food and people throwing their food away
People getting annoyed over things I don't find offensive nor get offended about
People getting butthurt with jokes and refusing to accept the joke and stay offended about it
People who complain all the time
People who complain about their problems and refuse to do something about it
People who complain about things all the time that can't be fixed
People opening up food boxes wrong

I once got mad at my husband for wrapping a present wrong. He used tissue paper instead of wrapping paper. I actually chewed him out about it.

Grammar nazis
"Troll" and "bully" being thrown around, those words get misused
When my husband says "growing spurt" instead of "growth spurt"

So, it's a no win situation sometimes for me. If I'm in there alone and I didn't get anything on my hands, I will just walk out wihout washing them if there is only a hand dryer. If I'm in there and someone else is in a stall, I'll turn the water on and off, then hit the button on the dryer and walk out. If someone is out there by the sinks, I have to do it.

I will do it if there are paper towels.

I hate the water that turns on ONLY with your hands under it with the eye thing, and those self flushing toilets too!

I hate public showers in camping areas etc that only send out a mixture of warm water and you have to push one button to get two minutes of it.

I know I do but I need sleep & can't think of them.

This reminds me of the Seinfeld episode when Elaine yells at someone in traffic to fix their dog's ear because it's inside out. That always cracked me up.

I'll fix a neck tag sticking out of a shirt on a total stranger.

These are the most frequent things that seem to really cause my mood to change:

-When a food server brings my food over with their thumb overlapping the plate.

-When my food is too hot. I prefer room temperature food.

-People "hovering" around me, invading my space

-Bright overhead lights

-Various sources of noise at the same time. I can only have one type of noise at a time.

For me being upset by the sillitest things are

1. My little brother wearing my clothes without my permission when I told him to ask me before he could rush on wearing my clothes.
2. My little brother (and his friends) tampering with my PS3 and Xbox 360 when those belong to me.
3. My little brother (and my older brother) tampering with my laptop and downloading stuff that can corrupt my computer.
4. People asking me if I'm Haitian, as I am an African American with Bahamian ancestry. I correct them by telling them my family is from the Bahamas.
5. Being upset with people who shut me down when I try to speak my mind and I know I have 1st amendment right of free speech.
6. Can't stand having my little brother sharing the same room that I'm in now.
7. My little brother thinks he's a tough guy when he's actually a coward when there is someone bigger and tougher than him.
8. My sister coming to my room when she has to knock first before entering.
9. My little brother and sister asking me to spell words that they can spell for themselves and I advised them to look in the dictionary for words they can't spell.
10. My mother nagging and yelling all the time.
11. My brother asking me to do things when he can do them himself and he has a problem taking a no from me.
12. My little brother turning the channel on the TV when I was watching something that I like.
13. Certain people who smack talking me when I play on the pool table at the college, saying that I'm "garbage" even when I imporved.
14. My older brothers provoking me to fight them when I was a youngster (and I could scrap).
15. People online and offline asking me if I am gay or bisexual guy and I tell them I'm purely straight.
16. My 1 year old nephew from an older sister of mine touching stuff that he could possibly break.
17. People who are quick to judge and assume.
18. Jehovah witnesses knocking on the door asking me for my mom when she has clearly no interest in that religion.
19. My mom clearing earwax out of my ears when I'm old enough not to need her to do it for me.
20. My little brother (and sister) singing when I'm around.
21. People shooting at and fighting each other in the neighborhood I live at instead of having a peaceful community without crime and violence.

I wouldn't want to use cloth towels in public toilets can you imagine what they would be like after everyones used them :eew:
The hand dryers are more hygenic.
also when people don't wash their hands then touch the door handle I have to get a tissue so I don't have to touch the door handle after they've touched it with their dirty hands :eew:
