Diagnosed with AS, "Anxiety", Bipolar and Psychosis.

My correct diagnoses are in my opinion Schizoaffective disorder (bipolar + psychosis) and PTSD.

I chose NT but..er well I'm theoretically on the schizophrenic spectrum.

The autism like group should have been split; CDD and Retts in one group, NVLD and SPD in the other.

AS, by the way.

Major depression and panic disorder was my first DX, then Asperger Syndrome DX a few years later, all in my late 30's - mid 40's.

I was diagnosed with AS when I was 12. I had lot of other labels before that. I was also diagnosed with anxiety and depression along with AS.

I was diagnosed with AS at age two and have no memory of my diagnosis. Also what is the difference between AS and HFA? I've been wondering this for a while now.

Whoops I voted before I finished reading the OP. I voted PDD-NOS as that is my official diagnosis as of a few weeks ago but from summer 2010 til the last day of this past December my diagnosis was Asperger Disorder though it was by a less qualified person and only good for getting me help with collage and nothing else as the doctor then didn't want to make it official - I wanted something official and due to mentioning the possibility of having it to some other doctor I later read his notes (which were got from everywhere for a new diagnosis and other related stuff) that he'd put down that I had the diagnosis already - I either need to not talk so freely to doctors or talk more to make sure they're really listening to me when I talk to them.

I'm not sure what to make of my new diagnosis as I liked my old one and thought it fit me quite well, but the doctor and only one so far that seems to know what she's talking about, said I meet more stuff than what's required for AS so while I 'lean' that way I'm now officially PDD-NOS or PDD for short as my mom thinks the last part may confuse people unless they're doctors themselves.

I should be getting the actually paperwork soon so if somehow it says different I'll amend my signature again or something.

Paraphrasing as best I can:

"Autism spectrum disorder. Most likely Asperger's."

Also of note:

"Generalized Anxiety Disorder.

PTSD.

Likely OCD, except for Asperger's covering some of the obsessive symptoms.

Depression."

To clarify: The names in each option are names for roughly the same thing.

No separate categories for "high-functioning autism". If you got that as a diagnosis, just use the "autism" option.

The "more than one ASD diagnosis" option is for people who have had different doctors label them with different things.

That just sums it up really doesn't it

OK, I'll break my pledge of silence a bit. ;)

I hate how my difficulties are dismissed by some people around me including the psychs who evaluated me. Part of it is that they've given me the ugly and dismissing label PDD-NOS because I'm so much "HF" and I should be glad having only this. Ok, they don't actually say I don't have difficulties, I only infer it from their speech (reading between the lines). In this regard, I wonder how many traits and by what severity one should show to be dx'd with Asperger's as an adult... :? Also, NO NEED to hurry with such things as making friends, preparing yourself for job & job interviews, educating yourself, since if you are successful at it (to a degree), your difficulties will be automatically disregarded in other areas too, like relationships with the opposite gender or having a family... :(

Also, you may be interested in a similar poll:
http://www.wrongplanet.net/postt183940.html

I was trying to find out how much AS is the majority here. Basically, everyone who is HF enough is now labeled with it with only a minor exception that includes me.

Since it is obviously an AS forum (look at the labels / topic titles), I don't feel appropriate here anymore, even though I feel bad about it, and I doubt what I have been told. Unfortunately, I don't know a single person IRL besides myself having any kind of ASD diagnosis, so I really don't know how I compare to them...

/Back to silence mode (a least for a while)./

Asperger's Disorder, Major Depression, Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder, also have some or all criteria for Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder and Generalzed Anxiety Disorder but the shrink believes that the symptoms are manifestations of my AS.

EDIT: i forgot until i read Jamieevren1210's post.... i also have some or all criteria for ADD or ADHD, but the shrink also believed it was a manifestation of my AS.

I have had semantic pragmatic disorder since the age of 4 , so i sometimes have problems understanding instructions and other people and there intentions and emotions. I also have difficulty in making and keeping friends and find keeping in contact with people difficult.
