I get that when I crack a particularly difficult programming problem. A little while back I worked out a really elegant technique to perform a medial axis transform. The problem had been bugging me for over 5 years when I suddenly had one of those 'of course' moments and had it coded in a couple of days. I was buzzing for days after that one.

8O The description of the sensation.. It describes exactly what I feel when I am compiling, reformatting, and curating data (and finishing AP exams after several chocolate bars)! There is also an urge to tell everyone about it, but that is usually weaker than the aversion to speaking.

Maybe my special interests should be weakened, especially if they end up making me into something similar to the archetype of the foolish drug-abuser that I seek to purge from society.

Me too, I also get that if I find information about something I'm interested or when I see the kind of drawings I love (mostly werewolves or photorealistic), I feel pleasure while passing my eyes across the details, like if I were touching or painting it. But I haven't tell anyone because I think they will think it's pervert or something.

It really is a natural high for us aspies judging by everyones responses....good stuff.
