Even if it does not seem to be a valid theory, I see the appeal. I wondered myself whether it is not rather arrogant to talk of ourselfs as high-function autists in contrast to those who are considered low-function. What is intelligence? Does choosing your inner world instead of reality equal a low IQ? I believe that we are born with autism or not. NTs cannot escape reality as far as I understand it. I kind of live between my inner worlds and reality. Maybe low-function autists are the only ones who can withdraw completely from the outer world. Maybe I would if I could. NTs and reality often seem disgusting to me - not worth the effort. :oops:
