Hmm. I'm going to be speaking strictly about Norway and Norwegian culture, as I don't know if this applies to Switzerland. It might apply to Sweden and Denmark also, but I'm not sure.

Sweden and Norway are most alike each other. The Norwegians seem to be a little bit more individualistic than the Swedes.

Well the English can be quite Aspie and reserved, I'd say the Spanish were the polar opposite, chatty, social, chaotic.

Very roughly, the Europeans north of the Alps are more reserved than those south of them. A Swede is more reserved than a German though, but an Englishman can be just as reserved as a Swede.

The extrovert, chatty Europeans are the Italians, Portugese, Spaniards, Greeks and Yugoslavs and to some extent the French. Once again, roughly speaking.

Maybe Japan would be good for young Aspies. Being quiet and reserved is seen in Japanese schools as a virtue, indicating good manners, and I remember reading somewhere that in Japan, quiet children were the most often chosen to be friends with.

Japan actually has a huge bullying problem. In many countries though were people are considered reserved then people are all expected to behave a certain way. Those that can't follow complicated social rituals or lack the knowledge of the social heirarchy can be bullied as an example to keep the rest in place.

You're probably not in the right place. I live in New England. Southern New Hampshire to be specific and things aren't too bad at all here.

Oh, but I never travel. So I can only speak for where I am. And thats my impression

I've heard that Finland is very straightforward, without much small talk or skirting around issues.

Since I moved to CT, I've found that in general, the people here in Southern New England are more uptight and less patient when it comes to dealing with people. Having AS, I tend to misunderstand what people are asking me sometimes, and I have gotten many responses from people such as, "Oh, you know what I'm asking," as though I had deliberately given them a stupid or smart-aleck answer. They seem less willing to explain things in detail, as though they are in an extreme hurry to do their business, and are more prone to dismissing you as troublesome or unintelligent. Of course this is all compared to Northern CA, where things are a lot more laid back, which is really nice. 8)

plus, I'm convinced that all Finns are born knowing how to drive... like, straight from the womb. You could take a newborn Finn, but 'em in a car modified for babies and they'd just proceed to kick ass.
As well, Finnish girls are damned cute.

I'll add my vote to that

I like Finnish people in general though, they have amusing accents

The countries that contain more aspies: Israel, India, Japan...

I was reading an article about Myers Briggs testing somewhere, and it had some interesting statistics. It said that Israel is the most extroverted country in the world, and Japan is the most introverted. At the same time, they both have more aspies than some other countries. While AS and introversion go hand in hand, it's a little hard to reconcile the Israelis having AS and being extroverted at the same time. I'm guessing it's the solidarilty factor of 80% of the population all having the same faith, or that many social interactions in the Jewish culture/religion are ruled by laws in the Torah and Talmud.

Dart,

America wasn't that way BEFORE! It really WAS like leave it to beaver! And NOW, it is like "married with children"! They weren't so loud, and had the idea of personal distance and privacy. pop culture didn't really exist, and politics at least didn't seem to be SO blatently against the country.

It seems like most countries aren't willing to accept Americans as equals without some kind of special consideration, etc....

Anyway, if the US doesn't get its act together, can any other place be safe? This didn't START in the US and is invading everywhere. It is a PLAGUE! So simply moving isn't a good answer.

Steve
Yet ANOTHER american(Though I DO know English, German, Danish, and am studying Spanish and Hindi)

BTW I want a country like the US once was! Sadly, I don't know of ANY!

The UK is pretty Aspie, so I have read.
