I remember projecting a herd of horses running close to our car during a boring trip

This reminds me that a few months ago I started tapering back how much I was letting my imaginations overrun my reality regarding REAL situations (like imagining ahead of time how a social gathering might go, instead of not thinking about it ahead of time). The way I do it is when I realize my mind is wondering about a real situation, I instead start picturing Raz as Goggalor terrorizing the city. I figure if my mind is so desperately wanting to imagine something, I'll give it something good to imagine instead of working myself into a frenzy over some actual situation. It's my way of implementing a Tao Te Ching phrase into my life:

Free from desire, you realize the mystery.
Caught in desire, you see only the manifestations.

It basically means if I allow myself to focus too much on my wishes, imaginations, and fantasies (manifestations) of how I'd like a situation to go, then I'll miss out on how the situation ACTUALLY plays out, and I will most likely be disappointed because it didn't turn out as I had imagined. So, when I realize that I'm applying my fantastical desires to real-world situations, I stop by imagining something so ridiculous as to remind me of how mysterious this world really can be - humungous Raz attacking the city!
