One thing that doesn't change is their voices. You could blindfold me and have people speak without me knowing who they were and I'd be able to guess.

When I remembered my dreams, people ALWAYS talked in them. These people I had never met except in my dreams gave me advice on medication once and told me if I tried to have any more kids by anyone but my son's dad (now my ex) that I would either miscarry or not be able to get pregnant. I think it might have also been them that told me I'd have 3 more kids with him. My dead grandmother talked to me in a dream when I was 15 and also these girls that I never talked to that went to my elementary school and the school I went to in grades 7 and 8. We talked in the dream like we were friends, hanging out at twilight/night/dawn in parts of the city that actually exist, near where we lived.

People talk in my dreams all the time, and I have conversations with them all the time.

Depends on what kind of dream it is, I guess. A lot of them seem "abstract" in that there are no absolute rules, and yet all have felt real enough.

I have conversations in my dreams as well. I also talk in my sleep, sometimes loud enough that I wake myself up and hear myself finishing a sentence 8O It's a bit disturbing.

Yes they talk, but because of this topic I realized there's never more than 1 person talking at a time. When there's 2 other people talking, I don't talk myself, like a ghost watching these 2 other people. When I wake up, it's like no one said anything, but I know they talked in my dreams.

Most of the time my dreams are about trying to get away from people, not talk to them. When communication does happen it does not involve words but is a sort out arduous telepathic transfer of information.

I very rarely experience sound in my dreams, but I have had silent conversations with the people within the dream world via some form of telepathy related mechanism. Obviously it is all one mind, so the transfer of communication does not need an auditory method of transmission. If there are sounds in my dream it wakes me it up generally, the only exception is when Lucid Dreaming, in these dreams I experience all the senses fully.

I notice no-one has mentioned seeing written snipits of information written on random objects or attached to things. These are quite central to my dreams, and make things make sense in the absence of speech.
I guess in life I prefer reading to conversation, so in my dreams I subconciously get to choose!

people converse but they do so with audible thoughts rather than audible vocal chord-created verbalness coming out of their mouths. sometimes it is as though i was watching a badly dubbed foreign movie, in that the mouth movements don't directly correspond with the "speech" [audible thoughts] that i "hear" in the dream.

Yes, my dreams can have dialogue, plot, senses... you name it.

They speak in gibberish, but I can understand them.

That's funny because for me, their voices ALWAYS change!

Pretty much the same with me.

Now that you mention it, about 50% of the time, there is no talking in my dreams. However, when there is, I recognize the person, who may look quite different from their living appearence. Which also makes no sense..
My dreams are often abstract & surreal in general, too..

Sincerely,
Matthew

People talk in my dreams all the time. Sometimes it's overwhelming even, when there are several of them talking at once.
