I raised my kids with the help of a Bouvier de Flandes... A BIG dog.

Yes. My dog is only 40 pounds, but I take him everywhere.

I prefer large dogs - I used to have a Great Dane (150 pounds  ), he was amazing with the kids.

I'm not really a dog person.

Animals give me peace and joy, particularly cats. I like dogs of any size if they aren't too aggressive or too rambunctious. I am a petite person, so I could easily be knocked down by a big dog. Cats are much easier for me to handle.

I love dogs, because unlike most cats, they actually love you back. Petting my geriatric basset hound is one of the most cathartic experiences to me and calms me down instantly.

Yikes! Not me! (Unless you literally mean "piece," not "peace.")

I've always had a phobia of dogs -- and of large, fast-moving, noisy animals in general. When I was a child it was an extreme phobia. Nowadays I just tense up around dogs.

I'm okay with cats, but I really don't want the responsibility of caring for any non-human animal. I'd rather spend my time and energy on building up a network of human friends.

I won't keep a pet, because all the wild animals on earth are now only 10% of the total weight of domestic animals and humans. Nor do I find them very calming, although I do like petting dogs and cats. However, one greyhound/alsatian I knew, who had once backed a former owner into a corner, and barked at most visitors, would not even lift her back fur when I arrived.

Can it be a big, red dog?

As someone who had and likes both, I have to disagree. You can bond with a cat as strongly as a dog, but the process is completely different. A dog will love you no matter how you treat it, a cat's love and loyalty need to be earned. This, along with the fact that they don't acknowledge hierarchies is the reason I actually prefer cats.

How could they compare depression to one of the world's most loving companions?! Even the dog in the video looks cute! They called dogs "mans' best friend" for a damn good reason. I remember as a kid whenever I used to cry, our dogs would go up to me, lovingly wagging their tails and make such a huge fuss out of me, like I was the best thing in the world to them. How many humans treat each other with such great friendship?

I'm really not a dog person. Unless they are very friendly, big dogs scare me. And sometimes just their size alone startles me if they are unusually big, like a Great Dane. I think to myself, "Holy smokes, That's not a dog, it's a horse!"

Cats are definitely my favorite. :)

My mom has all kinds of weird rules for interacting with her dog so she's not really fun to be around. I perfer lizards and more exotic animals.
