I really have sensory issues with shaving, and not just that, anxiety around it as well. I always scared I am going to cut myself and I don't like the feel of the razor unless I LOTS of shaving cream. I pretty much only shave my underarms when I am going swimming. I never shave anywhere else. Luckily, I don't have a lot of body hair and live in cooler climate where most people where pants for most of the year (Between mid-September and late-June) so no one really notices.

Does anyone else have this problem?

i don't like the smooth feeling of my skin after it is shaved bare - it feels unnatural to not even have peach fuzz on my legs and elsewhere. :eew: i go through periods where i don't shave but most of the time i tend to do it there days.

I have never shaved. It just seems like another pointless ritual which serves no purpose, something that people only do because it has always been done by everyone else, without even considering any actual reason why.

Once the hair started growing, I just let it grow. It wouldn't be there if it wasn't supposed to be there, I see no reason to remove it other than to satisfy the thoughtless demands of other people, and if they have no reason themselves then that alone is not a valid reason.

I would also just feel really strange without a beard.

I shave once a day. But my beard is heavy and I could shave twice a day. I use the Gillette Fusion razor and their Sensitive shaving cream that come out like a gel. My whiskers are pretty rough and will break an electric razor. I found the Norelco the worst. I did like the Remington but prefer the blade. With the Fusion I don't cut myself and only need to change the blades once a month. They last longer if you keep them dry when finished.

I have had a beard but they itch too much. I guess sensory issues. BTW, if you are female I don't find it a turn off if you do not shave. I think it is over-rated. I only shave for me or I will scratch my face all day.

I can't stand shaving, but I do it to make myself look and feel more girlie. Like a lot of people who commented on this thread, it's not because if sensory issues. I tend to give myself about a billion shaving cuts all over my legs, plus I get extremely bad razor burn on my thighs!

Not worth the effort. I shave only when it becomes uncomfortable, which takes anything between two weeks and two months.

I don't really like shaving, but I compared to the feeling of not shaving, I put up with it.
If I let my beard go 3-4 days, the itching drives me CRAZY!! !

I've actually found that a double blade on the 2nd use is best.
A triple blade (or more) brand spankin new is too much for my face. A slightly used double blade is dull enough not to cut my skin but still cut the hair.

I never could see the point in shaving. When my beard gets long enough to get annoying I just get out some scissors and trim it back.

If you are lazy enough, if stops itching after at most a week :) When I discovered this, I drastically reduced the frequency of my shaving.

If you just trim your beard instead of shaving you don't get any itching.

I'm a guy, and I HATE shaving. I grow my beard until there's several weeks' worth, at which time it starts to itch BADLY, so I finally give in and shave. I also shave my underarms, which I do because I realize that hair traps odor, and I don't shower often because of sensory issues, so I tend to stink. I never used to shave my underarms, until the hair got an odor in it that REFUSED to wash out, then I had to. Girls have it worse, they're expected to shave legs, armpits (in USA), and their crotches, especially if they have a sex partner (hopefully none of you 17 year old girls are having sex regularly quite yet). A man just has to shave his beard and for partially bald men their heads. Some shave armpits, and women are starting to demand that men shave their crotches. Some men do what is called "manscaping", which is shaving just the hairs circling the penis, and leaving the rest of the pubes alone.

Wait, you're telling me that girls/women in other countries aren't forced to shave their pits? That's it, I'm getting a passport and packing my luggage! lol

It's a common rumor in the USA that European women don't wax or shave :) It's definitely false though. I don't know of any country where women don't shave their armpits and legs at the very least. Pubic hair is also out of fashion in all of Europe. As a result, pubic lice are nearly extinct. Keep shaving people, or else they might have a revival!

I hate shaving, but I hate body hair even more, especially in the summer. I cut my beard back to a stubble every two weeks, and I often take the time to shave my entire body while I'm at it (on a side note, the Philips Bodygroom is one of the greatest products ever made).

I've often wished humans had fur. Soft fur would hide most signs of aging, as well as scars and skin problems. But human body hair is neither here nor there. It just looks icky and ape-like.

This minus the beard part.

Shaving actually became a 'special interest' of mine for a while. I started researching safety razors and got quite obsessive about it, it took 20 minutes to shave each morning but the shave was perfect :D. I'm back to using an electric razor at the moment though (perfect option for those who are worried about cutting themselves, practically impossible to do so). It only takes 30 seconds to shave now but I kind of miss the 'ritualistic' appeal of the safety razor, plus it's quite a traditional approach which I liked for some reason.

I have to shave my legs and my arms as well as I was bullied at school and I would refuse to take my jumper off on a hot day for fear of getting picked on.
