I would say history is my main special interest. I could put some limits on what interests me (mostly Venice and the Italian city-states, Soviet Russia/the USSR from the Revolution to 1941), but then, maybe I shouldn't. When I learn something about any setting, I use it randomly in conversation with the same amount of unrelatedness. I just know more about certain periods and certain regions, but I use everything I know about any period and any region.

I think there should be a space left for "philosophy", but more as a work in project in my head than as a subject of study. It would be something in between ethics and politics, with epistemology as needed.

Also, French grammar. Do NOT ask me a question about that. You WILL be bored.

I am very knowledgeable about a certain number of things that interest me (the Lord of the Rings trilogy, computers and computer games, social psychology, Daria, whichever band I like the most at a given time, etc.), but I think they count as normal interests, + my generally absorbing information better than most.

I have a few interests but there are two that I divulge in more frequently than the others. They would be astronomy and North American birds. I also like rocket ships, Native American things (my grandfather was Cherokee), dinosaurs or anything 'ancient earth,' weather, earth sciences in general, rocks, geography...I think I'm one of the few people here in California that get excited when there's and earthquake, like we had the other day. I don't see how people don't get excited about plate tectonics being at work!

As you can see, my interests are mainly science-y...Though I'm not perfect at it, I find grammar and sentence structure to be interesting as well.

Guns, yo (actually, projectile weaponry; changes over time. Liking bows at one time, liking artillery another time, small arms another, and so on).

I think I should stop posting on this forum because I get out of bed at 5 in the morning to correct my mistakes and I lie awake thinking about them. This is seriously getting out of hand! I have developed a whole new obsession in just a couple of months.

Why did I type conscious instead of conscience in one of my previous posts?! I can't take it anymore and I will never learn english. :(

In the past I've been obsessed with a zone creator program for a MUD, a cellular automata simulator, various bands [none of which seem all that great to me anymore], various women, various MMOGs [single player games too, but once I run out of content I tend to get bored], Star Trek [but I've run out of shows to watch.. I suppose there are the books], even certain tasks at jobs I otherwise find dull..

I've actually run out of obsessions as of late.. nothing seems particularly interesting anymore, really.. the world burnt me out on it :)

Same here! I particularly like reading about ballistics and the physics behind it.

Stereotypical Aspie geek stuff for me: Electronics, computers and machinery. I discovered electricity at around age 6 and that was it for me. One of my few childhood memories is of the first time I worked out how to turn a light bulb on with a battery and a few pieces of wire. Computers came later at about 12 years old. By 14 or so I was building all sorts of computer controlled devices and I've never stopped.

If you've borrowed my brain, I'd really like to have it back.

Well, it may have a few extra wires attached and you really don't want to know what the flashing lights are for...
