When I am depressed I don't have a special interest or any interest for that matter. Right now I am depressed.

I am curious how prevalent this is for people on the spectrum, I mean the lack of a special interest causing depression and vice versa.

This happens to me. I've always had very few interests.

And now I wish I had what you had. I always either want to duel or play a video game. And I have not had a formal break through my special interest. It's come to the point where my special interest become my only thought and it becomes very distracting. I get anxious or tired or bored if I cannot pursue my special interest. Like in school at college after a while I start thinking about my special interest.

I wish I had lifelong interests too. I don't understand how some people can be into the same narrow subject for longer than a couple of years, and I envy the longevity of their interests.

I've never had that problem. Even when I was clinically depressed I had a special interest. Getting better

Can I make a suggestion? How about you become interested in getting better?

I don't think I've ever gone through a period without a special interest. I almost lost a special interest earlier on this year.
