Do you have a great memory? I don't. Well, when I was younger I did. I don't know why I don't now. Maybe it is due to stress and chemical imbalances. But my memory strengths have always been in recalling conversations or episodic memories. I was never great at memorizing numbers with 100+ digits. In fact, I probably am incapable of it. I thought people with AS had impeccable memories when it came to remembering numbers. Is that only a right handed thing? I'm left handed. Maybe that has something to do with it...

My memory is like that; I cannot remember numbers at all, but I'm good at remembering meaningful things. I'm also left handed.

I don't think it's the caffeine affecting memory, really.

I can remember specific conversations from over a year ago. I have an incredible memory. I often fake not remembering specific details so I don't seem like a stalker.

I used to have a really good memory... License plate numbers in particular have always seemed to have a sort of "shape" that makes them stick in my mind. Now, though...I've found out that stress can really do a number on the ability to recall, if not on what is actually in the memory.

I'd say my memory's quite good. Especially when it comes to numbers. I'm good at remembering dates, birthdays, digits of Pi, phone numbers etc. I'm also good at remembering things I find interesting and understand. And details. I remember details. I'm not, however, that good at remembering faces for example. I often recognise them but can't remember where I've seen them before.

My memory is incredibly bad, it runs genetically on my Dad's side so I believe I've inheirited his bad memory. I can remember useless information or little bits of data from years ago, but I easily forget what I did last week/month/year. Someone can say something to me and 5 minutes later, it's gone. I can remember them saying something to me, but not what.

I'm bad at recalling names, faces, numbers (especially birthdays), I very rarely remember the emotions attached to a particular memory. I do however, have a good memory for the little things, like the little facial expressions my (now ex) girlfriend does, such as chewing on her lip when she's thinking.

I think you'll find that many aspies will have good or bad memory based on what they're doing. For example, if it's a special interest memory will be good or, if it's a social occasion memory will be poor. All part of the 'narrow interests'.

My memory is similar to Azrael098's. My short term memory is terrible and long term memory is erratic. Some things that have a particular significance stick but most stuff just fades into the mist.

Ahhhhh, what's takin them so long?? it's 9:22 or soooooooooooo..............

I wonder how little Claire is doing, curly blondish hair, caramel skin tone, delightful smile, and chillin in pajamas. A kinda silent precocious child who did not say much until she was comfortable with her latina interviewer. The little bi-racial girl pointed in the great out yonder and said, Momma look........

She was the last......

I have an alright memory......I guess.

Little Lulu, blond cherub with big blue eys, somewhat mischievous. She followed the tasks well and had pretty good language skills when she used them.

Father was the nicest man( blondish thinning hair, slim,of average height, talkative) i ever met. He had trouble getting to the parking lot. Big time.

Only male parent to bring his child on my watch.

She was the first.....

Ma memory is ok nothing to brag home about....

Pretty good, although I'm rubbish with labels (names, numbers) - things that have no intrinsic meaning.

It's an interesting subject. So much of memory is dependent on emotion and we experience emotion very differently than nonautistics, and yet generally I don't think we have worse memories. I find this fasincating.

Quite on the contrary, I'm very good at small things but leave out emotional experiences...not unlike a machine. I notice everything, and make deductions out of the results, this is why I like Sherlock Holmes so much. I see myself in him although I have never had a real case to solve, and even if I did, I know I'd suck. I'm just this observing machine.

This. I am very observant, noticing the smallest of details. Yet I am unable to remember the things i should be remembering. Quite frustrating.

Although if I don't, I'm kind of rubbish

Weird suggestion- do you ever drink sugar free energy drinks? The artificial sweetener they contain is known to causes memory and mood disturbances,

I drink monster drinks. Are you referring to maltodextrin? I noticed it's mostly monster drinks that affect my intelligence.

really not sure about that one, I think it's sucralose and aspartame that have a lot of side effects.
