I responded to it about 3 hours ago. Did it get lost? :{
I don't post anywhere but here really. But I do go there.
The nick sounds like an alcoholic drink but I still like it.

Okay, that's strange -- you know what, I got your message, but it was not reported as being "new" despite the fact I hadn't read it yet.

So, what's your fave BT song and why :)

Mine currently is PARIS -- it's such a masterful, diverse work of art encompassing what seems to be a theme of transportation. The bass is phat, the hooks are catchy, and the stutter edits and other BT techno-trickery is out in full force.

Actually it's the original of "Shame" from the Sweet November soundtrack. I can't ever find it though; only remixes. The original is not electronica; it's more Oasis-y sounding.
I'm also fond of the Monster soundtrack; which I also can't seem to find. Asking after it at Media Play is a fun game. Once they finally figure out who Bt is they say, "Bt is over there." "But it's a movie score." "Soundtracks are over there."
Guess I'm going to have to order it from Amazon.com but I hate them.
As far as the electronic stuff, I am always fond of Promethian Groove as "Kaistar" and released on City Of Angels. I do own that one. It is not allowed to reside with the other records in the house. That was a gift; not to mention it is out of print and is not replacable. Certainly not to me. The bside is the Renny Pilgrim remix, which I like just as much. I have the radio edit and the Deepsky remix as Mp3s as well.
His tracks all have amazing depth and his samples are just obsessively clear. I've got the same software and a ton of the same hardware and I can't do much with it beside make some cheesy hiphop loops. Not to mention that my samples are blurry and flat sounding. I kind of gave up on that.
On the downside, I'm getting tired of the timestretching on the vocals that seems to occur over and over again in his stuff.
I'll bet you're sorry you asked now! ;)

Sounds like you know your electronic music.

Wait, "Shame" from the Sweet November soundtrack is *different* from the one on Movement In Still Life (which is in fact quite rocky as you describe)? If that's so, I didn't know that.

Monster soundtrack isn't even officially released Stateside over here, I don't think.

There is timestretching (and time-compression and time-correction) going on in tracks like "Knowledge of Self", but I believe what you are referring to are BT's trademark stutter edits and Kyma (among other things) sound manipulation. Chchchchchchcchooooooooop-p-p-p-p-p-p-pp p p p p PP P p p p pppppppp-ed up like that ;)

Ooooooh I'm not sorry -- quite thankful, actually, that you were able to elucidate in such a way. TECHNOlogy-based music is a fanatical, zealot-esque obsession of mine (tying this back into the thread). It is such an obsession that I don't mention it much on the whole because it's like opening Pandora's Box. So *zip* :D

Dunno, I don't own that CD. I guess I'll have to get it and find out. My house is more vinyl oriented than CD oriented. Our living room contains a pretty comprehensive collection of Tech Itch and Ed Rush. Cds just don't give me the same kind of amusement vinyl does. Plus Cds smell funny and records smell good. Unfortunately the records I want are harder to get ahold of then those of the drum and bass genre.
As for the other, verily I shall slap employees and then try the Import section instead. I really have something against Amazon.com, I can't even explain why. Possibly my hatred of signing for packages.
Actually, Knowledge of Self was the exact track I was thinking of with that complaint.
Just to add to the weirdness; I used to really like Anomaly(calling Your Name). Then American Pie came out. Now everytime I hear it, I think of that and it's not as much fun anymore. :(
I never thought of liking electronica as an obsession I guess. I've always lived with djs and promoters so it's always just been a part of life.

It makes me wonder if there's such thing as a "passive obsession" then. For example, Christopher Walken has this uncanny knack for the roles that he plays, but he grew up in showbiz and started appearing on-screen at around 3 years of age. But he seems so focused and dedicated to his craft. About the use of that "Calling Your Name" track, you should have heard what they originally were going to use in the pre-release version of American Pie. That would have changed history in that your perception of said song would have remained intact ;)

When I was a kid, and to a lesser extent today, I LOVED antennas. During art class in 1st grade, I would draw houses so I could draw antennas.

When I payed with Legos, I made houses with antennas.

Thats all antennas. TV, radio, ham, etc....

I also read all the books on astronomy in the library as a kid, both the adult books and kids books. I was in the astronomy club in High School, until I attempted an unsucessful (but legal) coup to achieve the presidency.

Noone ever said I has Aspergers when I was a kid in the 70s. But if I were a kid today seeing a shrink, they would certainly suspect it. I was weird enough in High School, that some people thought I was smoking pot, which I was NOT doing. :D

That's neat. Because my current obbession, and has been for about 3-years is ham radio, and radios in general. Many people hate the look of antennas, but I just love them. I think it neat (and what people in this situation would say, "cool"). Have you ever gotten into ham radio?

Its also interesting that people said you were smoking pot, when you weren't. People say the same thing to me, and I also don't smoke pot. Either way, I find that very interesting.

I like broadcasting in general. But wouldn't want to be a broadcaster, for obvious reasons.

By the gods yes, that's the story of my life I swear!

My most recent obsessions:
-do falling weasels suffer less damage than falling humans?
-how to preserve consciousness beyond death?
-how to reverse Entropy and thermodynamics
-Another kind of Entropy
-online roleplaying
-finding rainy weather
-learning about sex
-yoga
-drawing
-news radio
-computer programming!

Some past ones:
-how many times to roll a die to get a number at least once?
-writing musical pieces
-playing video games
-watching TV

I don't have time to think on them all, but stuff like that.

Well I consider myself NT but I love to travel and listen to music. While my obsessions are positive I can daydream for hours on end if given the chance. But I choose not to because there are other important goals in life. I have traveled in Europe with my family for 3 monts(I live in Californai). We went to Spain,France,England and then went to see my family in Israel. As of this past Januarary I have been to Israel 4 times. I also went to Hawaii three years in a row!! !. I will be going on the train to my grandparents in LA and New Mexico. I read so much about different countires just to learn about the culture. I hope to go to Australia and New Zeland someday soon.

As for music a good friend of mine enjoys the same music that I do. I like the soft rock/Easy Listening/Motown music. It is pretty rare to find a person who shares the same music interest these days. I think this is due to the new age era of Hip Hop Music.I choose not to listen to this type of music along with country music. The soft music really calms me.

But if you can channel your obsessions in a positve way then you don't need to be embarressed.

Yeah, I'm a ham. I'm still a tech plus, since I never upgraded to general after the license classes were restructured. Actually, I just renewed my license a few days ago.

When I was a small child it was

engines, especially rocket engines
astrophysics
the paranormal

As an adolescent and as an adult, the obsessions turned more toward certain intellectual people and their work, while only sometimes being more general.

So there are composers:

Pierre Boulez
Igor Stravinsky

A choreographer:

Martha Graham

political dissidents:

Gore Vidal
Noam Chomsky

Cognitive scientists:

Noam Chomsky
Paul Churchland

I was also obsessed with Gnosticism for awhile.

I must say, it's a little painful to make this list. I feel like I am revealing too much of myself. What's that paper bag over my head for unless it works to hide me?
