I don't get this thread. Is it supposed to mean ''what do you like about being different?''? Because a lot of things people have mentioned here are traits what are more like NT traits.

Any neurotypical person could have these traits but maybe someone with AS would have them more to an extreme.

The fact that I'm honest, enjoy solitude and don't have a constant need for companionship to complete me, the fact that I can get so deeply engrossed in things that interest me in a way that seems, from what I can tell, to be almost unattainable for most NTs, and simply the fact that I'm able to say to the rest of the world, "I'm not like you, I get to be different."

Being able to play musical instruments I become fascinated with.

Being able to memorize vast amounts of statistics on interests.

Being able to enjoy interests in a very in-depth and obsessive way.

Collecting vast amounts of things relating to my interests.

Being able to utilize my interests into stories that I write.

There's more, but this will do for tonight.

I am always able to entertain myself.
I have a healthy sense of apathy regarding foolish things like popularity, power and gossip.
I'm pretty good at observing and noticing patterns.

* ability to be amused by ant trails, tree bark, clouds, or sparkling/blinking lights for inordinate amounts of time without being high

* can space-out at will

* experienced a wider span of human joy-misery (a lot of it is from the low end being lower, but that makes me value every microsecond when I'm not depressed/anhedonic/suicidal)

* seeing some of the underbelly of how the world works, in the sense of not being a person the world was designed to serve (I think that makes it easier to see certain kinds of injustice & societal BS)

* have gotten to avoid disappointment stemming from spending decades building on education, career, and marriage only to find it all unfulfilling, due crashing way before getting to that point

Positives about AS:

more self-awareness(maybe too much sometimes)
more honest
the ability to truly enjoy my solitude
not having the constant need for companionship
the ability to really enjoy the little things in life
that hyper-intense Aspie focus
lack of serious body issues
having lots of special interests
very observant
childlike curiosity
being able to think more logically than the average person
can entertain myself for hours, even days

That is all I can think of right now.....

Hope it's a fair list

Positives and Negatives don't really matter to me. I'm just happy that I'm alive.
