I recognise some traits in my dad, as does he. He says he recognises a lot of the Asperger traits in himself.

Oddly enough I've always found him to be very good at socialising, but he says that it's not natural for him and that he has had to learn actively how to do it.

my dad is a bit like NeueZiel's dad, he does spend a LOT of time watching history and discovery channel

he also did things like twirl his hair and walk on the tips of his toes when he was young (things I do to this day) but he broke those habits a long time ago

he was also very anti-social as a kid (did several violent things to people out of boredom)

he does stick to certain foods on a regular routine. He says its cause his food is limited (hes a type 2 diabetic) but the hair thing and toes thing gets me. I mean, what are the chances we BOTH have the same habit, something I never knew about till just this week

My dad twirled his hair as a kid too and is a diabetic as well (type 2). My dad was one of those weird, eccentric people growing up that was picked on a lot but one thing in his favor was that he really loved football (unlike me, I don't care for sports at all) so in middle and highschool he used that as an outlet until a coach pissed him off and he quit. Me and him have a lot of similarities too in terms of getting mad and quitting stuff we're a part of for certain reasons (weren't comfortable, couldn't do it, sensitive etc etc). He did go to a (good) college though and I view him as a success in my eyes.

My mom actually thinks she has aspergers now.
