I'm taking 200mg right now. It's not bad.

If you're not ready to give it a proper trial, say four to six weeks, I wouldn't bother taking it.

I'm on a very, very small amount of it. My Dr prescribed 12.5mg/day (25 mg is the smallest dose available, so I had to break my pills in half.) However, she gave it to me to help resolve my sleep problems (which were depression-related, anyway.) It definitely helps me sleep. I also notice it's a little easier for me to pay attention to videos without having as many OCD-like urges to count things in the screen and other annoying tics. But that's pretty much the extent of my effects (probably since it's only a very small dose.) I'm happier now, but since I lost my job pretty recently, I'm pretty sure that is more due to not having a narcissistic, moron boss pushing me around than anything the pill is doing for me. :P

You want an SRI?
Try st. johns wort (start at 1g a day, up it from there). It's been proven to be 2x more effective than prozac.
St johns wort grows wild in all of the US. I just chew it as I need it. And, it goes well with Valerian.
If that doesn't work for you, try the next safest thing. Kanna, Rhodiola rosea, kava and others.

Good luck!

For me, St Johns and Valerian work far better than the prescriptions I was on previously. The doctor couldn't recommend the herbs, but he observed my experiment to ween myself of the prescriptions with great interest.

Melatonin to help ensure a good night's sleep also does wonders for my mood!

St Johns wort and Valerian didn't affect my mood but increased my sun-sensitively badly. I got horrible sunburns very easily. Also, I found no noticeable effect from taking melatonin. I am glad you found something that works for you.
