I just wonder whether this really is an 'Aspie thing' or if others do that as well

My guess is that it not purely an aspie thing but just something people do.

I love sitting/ lying on the carpet, especially next to a heater, even though there are two couches next to my heater. I find it comforting also rocking in that position for an hour or so before bed each night.

I used to lie under my desk back home.
Now I lie on my chaise longue, sometimes on my bed.

I like to lie on the floor, especially if said floor is concrete or one of those metal "mesh" types (like what you see in factories). For me, I think the rigidity of the floor is comforting.

No, I ache when sitting on the floor, and get told to get up when laying on the floor.

I'm sitting on the floor at my computer right now.

I don't have a desk for it and have it on a nightstand. Also sitting at the computer too much in a chair or even on the sofa sometimes make my feet, ankles, and calves swell up.

I don't like laying on the floor too much. I'm getting older and it's uncomfortable now.

The floor is too hard for this old broken down body. I like to sit or lay on my bed.

I don't sit on the floor as much as I used to but I occasionally still do it. Especially if i'm using the laptop.

I do lay down on the floor from time to time. Usually to rest my eyes though, (I'll take my glasses off, close my eyes, etc)

Both, though I,prefer lying down.

Truthfully, a major stim of mine has been(and sometimes comes back) laying on my back and throwing a ball up and down.
