Ride - Going Blank Again
Reverse - The Jersey Switch
Fu Manchu - Daredevil
Compulsion - Comforter
Smashing Pumpkins - Siamese Dream
The Beta Band - Heroes to Zeroes
Straw - Shoplifting
(BUY THESE ALBUMS)

Also try:

Soundgarden, Green Day, Kasabian, The Vines, Cerulean, Alta May, Easyworld, Portishead, Jon Spencer Blues Explosion, Happy Mondays, Stone Roses, Nirvana, Ambulance Ltd., Gisli, Amusement Parks On Fire, Spirit Caravan, The Small Faces, Nirvana, The Pixies, Melvins, Something Corporate, The Vandals, Presidents of the USA, Redd Kross, Amplifier, Derrero, Death Cab for Cutie, Pelican, Orange Deluxe, Super Furry Animals, Queen Adreena.....

I could go on and on and on about indie/punk/rock bands. If you like, I could make up a mix CD for you. I don't think this is ripping anyone off as I'm sure that if you like any of the bands, you will end up buying some of their other music.

Pretty much any classic rock. The Beatles and Queen are my favorites though.

Seems strange that autistics would like "noisy" genres like rock and alternative (Im guilty of liking it as well btw). Perhaps its the complex intertwining patterns?

As for Ride - 'Nowhere' is far superior.
Also, Siamese Dream is great - but Melancholy... is better.

You recommended 'Amusement Parks on Fire' a few months ago hermit - thanks for that; it's a great album.
Pelican are good too ( which i think you mentioned), and i've discovered the similarish (& probably better) Mono.

I've recently downloaded Galaxie 500's 'This Is Our Music'; not listened to this in years ( the vinyl is stored away in the cellar.) I'm sure you must have this: but if not, then you really should.

Is there anything else i should be listening to?

In all genres of music, I tend to particularly enjoy tracks with the 'wall of sound' effect; a large number of different instrumentals - lots going on. I like the complete senses-filling effect it gives.

Sorry - no way! "Nowhere" is aimless, and "Melancholy" is a patchy affair and Billy Corgan's voice is beyond repair.

If you like "Nowhere" then I guess you should be looking at Swervedriver, Slodive, Alison's Halo, Madder Rose and the Jesus & Mary Chain.

Personally I prefer the slightly more upbeat and aggressive side of shoegazing, and therefore recommend "Happy Days" by Catherine Wheel, or possibly even "Leisure" by Blur.

If you like Pelican then try Gonga. I've not heard of Mono, will give them a try!

Top recommendation at the moment is "Heroes to Zeroes" by the Beta Band, simply because it's a wonderful album and with the demise of the band I suspect it will soon disappear, only to re-emerge in 5 years with some live tracks and studio demos tacked on the end as a "collector's limited edition" or some such rubbish.

P.S. There are also two Beta Band offshoots around at the moment: King Biscuit Time, and The Aliens.

I'm very eclectic.

But three favourite bands would be Radiohead, Tool and probalby weezer (just for the singalong songs).
I also listen to alot of electronica (used to be a raver) and i like alot of older music as well.

Pretty much only things i don't like are pop and hip hop. Some hip hop is ok even.

Do you ever listen to "The Planet" on radio national? (weekdays from 11:00 pm) I enjoy listening to different styles.

 HATE  rap and anything in a style of anyone on Idol.

Hate "old gold" or "classic rock". Most of it was crap 30 years ago and hasn't got better with time.

 Linda Ronstadt

Nope sorry bazza, i don't listen to the radio or watch t.v at all. Nothing against it i just don't have a radio player anymore (use an ipod for music).

Definately agree about rap, i just can't get it. Don't watch idol or any of those reality tv shows either. Depends on what you mean by old gold and classic rock i guess. Like i've got the stand by me soundtrack and good morning vietnam and forest gump and stuff and some of those 60's 70's are pretty damn good imo. the 80's on the other hand...
