As a response to all of you: Yes, I usually wear earplugs at night, and it really helps. Thing is, it's not exactly healthy for your ears, and at the moment I actually have otitis :( Also my right ear canal is a little deformed, so earplugs go only halfway in there and tend to slip out.

Thing is, I can't always run around with earplugs. The worst thing right now is the guy living above of me. We recently moved, and before that I lived 18 years in a little village where it was actually very quiet, and we were the only family in the house. But now there are five other families in the house, and what really wears me down is the sound of TVs or other people's music and, to an extreme extent, the footsteps and occasional bangs above me (I don't know what they're doing up there, but last night it was loud until 4 am). I tried to kindly ask them to turn it down a bit, but they immediately went full as*hole, basically saying "whatever that's not our problem".

I want to get less sensitive to noise, and I once was - when I was a child things like that didn't bother my half as much, I don't know why or when it changed. I just don't really know how to do that.
