My obsessions do sometimes get in the way of sleep, particularly Starlight Express. Every time I come home from seeing it I'll be far more excited than I am for any other obsession, and I can easily stay up until 4am just searching for fanfiction and fanart on it, listening to all of my soundtracks, and going through my collection of memorabillia. It can also happen with other obsessions, however, especially new ones as the urge to stay up all night researching them can often be too great to resist. (It's for this reason that I don't let myself get too much into anything on weekdays during my college term, as otherwise it might interfere with my work in class.)

I also tend to lose track of time when I'm immersed in my special interests, too...but IDK about them interfering with my sleep. My anxiety usually does that.

BTW, tantopat, I like your "Fantastic Planet" avatar - I watched it on Youtube about a month ago and thought it was really cool. :D

Yes, but not lately. I don't dream a whole lot ( fact, not opinion) and sometimes If I have a problem in a special interest area I will work the scenario over and over in my sleep until I get the right solution to the problem...saves a lot of resources doing trial and error in real life projects.
I am more likely to wake up extremely early to work on special interests than stay up late to do that. Hubby will interrrupt me in the evenings, but my mornings are mine in silence.

If I get too deeply involved with my special interests before going to bed, I get so wound up that it takes me a long time to calm down in order to fall asleep. That's probably why my usual bedtime is 4 - 4:30 AM

The Olympics in London messed with my sleep. There were some nights that I didn't sleep. Two of my special interests were put together as one. London and the Olympics. That will not be happening in the future. I'll be sleeping my usual hours the next time the games are on.

Once I begin researching something, it's very difficult for me to stop. I've awakened face down in my keyboard more than once.

I get into concepts like "Duality" or start poking around astrological transits or researching the roots of a word and then get fascinated by the beauty of Sanskrit characters... my mind does a lot of traveling.

My special interests play havoc with my sleep patterns and therefore my life as a whole!

It's 1:53 a.m. and my lap is full of two-thirds of a crocheted bed-size blanket, and my right thumb has a crochet-hook callus....

Take a wild guess.
