Kinda like we are our own private DJ's. I'll even catch myself dancing (briefly) on occasion, only to feel immediately awkward after realizing that "oh yeah, no one else can here this sh_t but me."

Oops.

Oh, if I could dance. :)

I have the same tune playing in my mind for almost a week now...

What I can remember the most accurately is how certain audio-reproduction equipments sound, I'm kind of tweaking and modifying my own hi-fi.

Words I can't remember as well.

I always get just part of a song repeating all day till I listen to the entire song.

I don't think mine's as broadly encompassing as some of yours though I never took a single page of notes nor bought a single text book in college and still did very well in most classes through sheer memory. As far as music...entire pieces do sometimes get stuck in my head and can be recalled at will for a while but usually it's interesting intervals or chord changes that are unusual. The best part is, they get stuck in my head in the right key so if I remember the starting note, say of Marion's Theme (Indiana Jones) in the first major 6th interval of that track, I can sing the correct pitch and seem to have perfect pitch, ha.

Truth be hold, I've been accused of being a good dancer numerous times over the years. I don't often do it in front of people or in groups, unless I'm a little "loose."

Thanks for this interesting post, Ojani. It would seem that many can relate.

Reminds me that I was very unhappy when I got rid of my very very old (older that me in fact) Yamaha amplifier because I couldn't fix it. Nothing sounded right anymore. Fortunately, looking on the net to buy a used one, I found the same one (working!). :D

Yep, I do this all the time. Though I can only remember snippets of really long symphonies and such. I have a very good musical memory, both for remembering songs and certain pitches.

I often recall long passages of music, especially classical or something I've created or am creating (if only I could record my thoughts! Best music ever!). If I hear a song playing on the radio and walk out of the room to do something, the song keeps playing in my head and usually if I come back before the song is finished the one in my head is still in time with the one playing on the radio.

Does anyone else have issues with lyrics? I hardly know any songs beginning to end vocally. When I hear a song, the vocals sound like just another instrument to me, I don't hear any words unless I try very very hard. I usually have no idea who is even singing.

I don't have any problem remembering lyrics. But then, I'm a singer.

But other musicians who are not singers told me they couldn't focus on the lyrics, and usually didn't understand them unless they really tried hard. Now that I think about it, one of these musicians suspects he might be on the spectrum, and another one, well... Knowing him, I wouldn't be surprised, and he's also a programmer and hi son is diagnosed with Asperger syndrome...

I also do this, though possibly not to the extend some of you do, and I also find it a double edged blade (correct expression?), I often find it terribly disturbing as I can't stop it. I find entire songs or passages from books intruding my thoughts and I struggle to shut them up. I also do it visually, I often find it soothing to replay films in my head when struggling to sleep, I have fallen asleep to the first Harry Potter film more times than I can count. Though I do find I have to stay away from horror films, lest a particularly disturbing scene imprint itself on my brain. Anybody have a similar problem?

I have songs going through my head constantly. I will wake up with something in my head, and it will morph several times during the day. I sometimes will keep the whole song all day, but mostly I go through 3-4. I assumed everybody did this.

What is weirder still is having comic routines in my head. I have a few stand-up comics that I love, and I record their TV specials on my DVR. I watch them over and over again, just as someone would listen to a music CD. Then a particular bit will pop into my head at a later time or date, and I will replay it over and over all day.

I posted something on this a while back and someone brought up earworms. Earworms are those catchy melodies that get stuck in peoples heads.

Personally I've always got something playing in my head. I don't really have any choice in the matter and it's not something I've heard recently. The same happens with TV/Movies as well.

Jason.

When I tell people about this they don't belive me! It's nice for when I'm bored, but it can be the most frustrating thing when a song gets "stuck in my head" that I hate, and it plays in an endless loop...

I really hate when the endless loop is not even the complete song

This is the reason why I don't like horror movies. Later my mind recalls random scenes from the films and I know I absolutely don't need it. For some people they are only an entertainment but for me an emotional torture as my thoughts keep revolving around them for too long.

I can relate. Sometimes I'd switch to a newer, better equipment just to find out later I miss something from the sound... I can't really move further with my hi-fi as I tend to become very accustomed with what I'm using currently. Sometimes I'd just move back to the old rigs for this reason, so I guess I know what you mean... ;)

I have dreamed songs with their music videos from beginning to end with total accuracy. I know lyrics to well over a hundred songs. I can also "play" songs in my head. I don't make an effort to remember these, they just insert themselves into my head.
