What's worse: a kid being told they have a brain disorder and be told that some of their behaviour is out of their control or a kid who is constantly yelled at, teased, bullied, excluded and having no idea why they are so different?

I like the former.

Screw normal. I want to be weird. Actually I don't even have to try to be weird. I've been diagnosed for over 4 years now so I'm comfortable with having a disorder. I have quite a lot of disorders, and a couple of mental illnesses to boot.

We dont do things like other people. You talk to me, and you're trying to direct me or instruct me, good luck I retain anything. Show me, let me do it myself, and I'll master it if I can. Flip it around, take the NT that CANT do it our way? Maybe he has the disorder.

Why can't the NT do what Einstein did? What about all the spectrum people who excel in life or introduce amazing innovation or art, do things NT's can't? And for all of us who've suffered, isn't some of it because we struggle fitting into a system designed for normal folks?

I know I coming from a lower end of the spectrum and I've had some therapy and all that, but my dad is on th higher end of Aspergers, I know what it's like to be him. He's unknowingly caused some suffering, and himself suffers, but he's also done some amazing things.

I've had a few drinks so humor me lol..... But ya know, just things I think about. Why have society be accepting of a disorder, rather than recognizing us as gifted, special, different. Wouldn't you want someone to describe you as a person who percieves and experiences the world a little differently than we do.

Trust me too, I'm not trying to be self riteuous, I'm struggling with know why I can't handle certain things in life, I guess I'm searching for a silver lining.

I can't imagine it being too effective to let some kid know that he has a pervasive development disorder.....it's basically telling someone that all their difficulties, all their insecurities are because they're broken in some way..... come up with a new name for godsakes.....

Could be worse. Back in the 1970's ADHD was referred to as "Minimal Brain Damage". Talk about a label that would give a kid a complex . . .
