Here in the states we still have many people who think the world is flat. For them to begin to understand us or accept us will never happen.

I went to my doctors, and he basically said that he wasn't familiar with Aspergers. So I took matters in my own hands and looked on the internet for psychologists that are experienced in Aspergers. I found an agency 2 hours away from my hometown and booked an appointment. My appointment lasted about 6 1/2 hours. In that time, I had IQ testing done, executive functioning tests, OCD, Anxiety tests, and of course tests on autism spectrum disorders. I brought my mom along with me, and she had to answer a couple of questionnaires. 2 months later I went back for my follow up, and was given my Aspergers diagnosis right then and there. It has brought me a lot of inner peace, knowing that there is a reason behind everything that I do. Now there was a cost to my assessment because I went through a private agency. It cost me $1500. But the good thing about it is I didn't have to wait long.
