Evolution is about being superior.

Yes, the only requirement is that you reproduce, but over time, it has come to be that the more superior of us have more reproductive opportunities.

>>So what leftover trait would Aspies have? ..or do we have next evolutionary advancement with Aspergers? Personally, I think we have a disorder which simply impairs a select group of skill sets and possibly enhances a few other skill sets. Net result?...Life for an Aspie is typically is more difficult although some may be able thrive under the right conditions while others will have great difficulty coping in most enviornments.

but our lives (generally) might be only more difficult due to the environment.....which (generally) is a dog-eat-dog world of competiveness..beat ur brother down to gain self esteem etc...i think things would be far different...if we lived in a world that was well...positive... in that it encouraged you to take any path...ie.if u invented say a different sort of energy...u weren't assassinated by someone representing big oil etc.....

i mean in my head...it's all different.... i was thinking the world would contain people wanting to all get along cos we were humans n s**t... and no-one would try to suppress someone if they did something for an overall good etc...

like i would never envision a world with petrol cars killing the environment when we could use electric ones?

imo NO WONDER it is difficult

>>NT people are DEVOLVING if anything!

thats sort of a scary thought....i was thinking with the net n all....all the information and critical thinking that would come from it...would make everyones awareness evolve etc...damn...

In all honesty I find threads like this rather disturbing (not to mention having no scientific basis). But that's just my opinion.

why are some people getting so uppity at this thread, there is nothing wrong with thinking about knew ideas which are not offensive.

I do not have an inflated idea about AS, the self mutilation, and suicide attempts are caused by not understanding why i don't fit in anywhere.

cool i'll disturb u more....in 1856 a women named Madame Blavatsky http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blavatsky
went to tibet and was shown a book detailing the evolution of 7 root races.....she subsequently wrote a book called the secret doctrine..and founded the theosophical society...many ppl (list down bottom of wiki page) have been influenced by her works..u can read it here: http://secretdoctrine.net/

so anyways if the aryans were the 5th....aspies logically would be the 6th eh :P

notice both gandhi and hitler were influenced by this stuff....but went about things in a rather different fashion..

ofcourse if we are the 6th....and there is anything to this...then we cant get too full of ourselves as some evolutionary endpoint...as the 7th must still be to come..

HEY, at least one person here saw a tie to village of the damned(or is it children of the damned)? Whatever, in one of them, an intelligent race(Apparantly having the same father that seemed normal, etc...) with some odd characteristics wants to live in peace(as I recall), but the others wanted to destroy them. JUST as the last one was dieing, someone came to say that they were actually advanced humans. There have been at least 3 variants of the story. The last one, that I know of, had the children created as some sort of alien plot to OPENLY subjugate the others.

Oh well, does it REALLY matter? What I have said so far IS true! Who cares why it happened, or what the final outcome will be, etc....

Well, Not everyone here has such disabilities. The social one is apparantly the only constant. The others are basically mix and match, and vary in degrees.

As for the idea of being aware? a lot of people STILL don't use the internet for much, if anything! STILL, there is a BIG difference between remote awareness, and understood, and a distinct difference between awareness and understanding.

BTW I see this as ANOTHER reason to not believe in a judeo-christian God, or lose respect for God.

It is almost like mentally I was dealt some cards and I got 6 aces! Unfortunately, nobody told me, and 3 of the aces got misplaced. YEP, I KNOW what you're thinking! I wasn't playing with a full deck. YEP, that is what I hate! Imagine if I knew about the others!

Then again, you probably think I'm STILL not playing with a full deck. OH WELL!

Total agreement here. This attitude is one of the most obnoxious and idiotic ones I've seen on the boards to date. Really, before you start trumpeting a type you belong to as the "next great evolutionary step," do try to understand what evolution is.

A thought does not mean anything, its merely a thought. I wouldnt attach a great deal of feeling to either side of this discussion.

I can see 'AS' as being evolutionary. Aspies tend to use logic and a different way of thinking - that alone, when it comes to decision making, will result in superior results and constant change for the best.

Not getting into other differences in great detail

evolution has no agenda... mutations are completely random...

it's the environment that determines the success of any individual... thus driving natural selection and giving meaning to fitness of species in general

if aliens came to earth and declared that they'd kill everyone unless you could do this: (__insert random aspie talent__) ...

then you might convience me of some imminent supreior value to whatever special talents i, or any other aspie, have evolutionarily acquired.

other than that... fitness is all about you being able to survive in your environment long enough to breed... and as people are pointing out... this tends to be hard for aspies, generally...

so i guess, come to your own conclusions about that... but the game (environment) is always changing... so who knows "who" will come out on top.

Actually, I wasn't attacking you personally. Nor did I say that you said we were evolving into X-Men. What I did was take your argument and point out its inherent danger by means of analogy. You did not say that we are superior to NTs, but you did imply such when you said we were the next level of evolution. That kind of thinking is dangerous.

Well, the concept in itself isn't offensive, but some of the assumptions that go into it are a litte disturbing.

stripey, how would you feel if some of the people you happen to like were basically said to be nothing but Apes by people who didn't even know them? Some of us happen to have NT friends, and I personally do not take kindly to my friends being insulted behind their backs.

Maybe you should just go join up with Aspies for Freedom? I'm sure they'd be happy to see you.

I could be "The Genius who saved the Routemaster"!

Getting back to reality, I think that the AS vs NT buisness has gone a little too far. Yes, I have a hard time relating to NTs of my Gender. Yes, I've been bullied and severly teased by NTs between the ages of six and eighteen.

But...

A lot of NTs of my gender are fun to talk to, and I've found that most NTs respect me, a lot.

cool lets all luv NT's as they 'wage their war on curing autism'...

i happen to think we deserve as much a place in society in our own way as they do in their way...and that people should be more accepting/understanding of the diversity of life...

still today..if a kid is born with 6 fingers....one gets chopped off....even tho that would be damn handy when typing on a computer etc.... we insist on suppressing anything that is different...
