Maybe a year ago or so, I had no idea that people on the spectrum could communicate much at all.
I know, I know... I'm a little embarrassed to even post this.
I came across another forum somewhere with people with Asperger's and was like, "Oh, wow, I didn't know they could talk so well."
Please nobody take offense to my past stupidity.
But I looked more into Asperger's then, so I guess it was a good learning opportunity.
To clarify, I had never met anyone with Asperger's in person (knowingly at least).
It's quite OK to not know everything. I mean, when I first came to WP I thought that everybody here were as high-functioning as me just because they could type posts on an internet forum. God was I wrong, and I learnt that the hard way!
Having an open mind to rid oneself of false beliefs is nothing to be embarrassed about, it is a good thing.
For all the faults of Wrong Planet it does give its readers an opportunity to unlearn from actually autistic people the false narritives so prevelent elsewhere.
