People with ASD like their routines. Showering every day is one of my routines. I have to do it, and even in the shower I have a routine. You sound really gross and sorry but you shouldn't blame AS for your lack of hygiene.
there are plenty of things that could factor in without him ever knowing it,
i suffered from severe depression over a couple of years and my personal hygiene and apartment certainly suffered for it,
some things i still dont find neccesary, i dont clean the clutter i use, having to constantly pack and unpack several boxes of components or stone would take ages, most of my table space is taken by various projects as well, including a cnc machine and a small coral aquarium im building for holding lab specimen in varying temperatures(for a student of molecular biology),
now ideally i would have had a dedicated workshop, that however takes more money and space than i have at my disposal.
other than that i have a weekly cleaning schedule i work after, fits with how i live and keeps it clean enough not to be nervous should i receive a surprise visit.
as for personal hygiene;
using shampoo every day is overkill and dries out the hair, once every second or even third wash is enough,
if i am working from home i usually only shower before going to bed, without any sort of soap or shampoo, i hate the smell when falling asleep of both soap and weat, my plants will do the trick.
