Haha, wise sage and archetype of wisdom he is! Of course, Yoda is modelled on those Far Eastern dispensers-of-wisdom like Confucius and kung-fu masters all around the world.
By the way, it seems to be the case that if Yoda is in a tense situation, he may speak dialog normally -- that whole part in Attack of the Clones where he's riding on that ship and giving out orders comes to mind
