Well...it's on the same line of something my therapist said....

She has several teenage aspies for patients, and as someone who treats many teens she's used to people lying to her or generally twisting the truth, and being pretty selfish and greedy...

She loves how aspies are the almost opposite of that...a woman my boyfriend works with (Not a therapist...not exactly sure what...) has said something similar. Most NT's will grow out of these better qualities...so although we may be shy and socially awkward in some ways, in other ways I don't envy the supposedly superior social skills of NTs...

I went out to dinner with a group of 7 tonight and did just fine, socially. Or I thought I did...Wouldn't have been invited to a new years party if I didn't. You know how a lot of times someone makes a post saying they wish there were less NT's? Saying she wishes there were more of us isn't really all that different...All she's saying is, she wishes more people were like you...and less people were like them :)

I'll go with all the others here and say it's a huge compliment. I don't wish that I'd be an NT because I simply still see the "beauty" in this condition, just as mentioned by others previously. I value these certain things that just don't seem to come naturally to most people these days, thus it frustrates me when being looked down upon for being neurologically "damaged" (?!). People focus too darn much on all the negative things, that they fail to see that it's got it's blessings too.

So I'd say rock on! to your sister for valuing the "gifts" you have thanks to AS, I wish someone would appreciate me like that too some day...

I said to a girl in the office that she can look beautiful, when she came in one day looking smart

I see that as a huge favour for society.
