I am milk intolerant, however I will find out in January whether it is the protiens or the lactose which causes my intolerance. I'm hoping that it is the lactose because they are making loads of lactose free products at the moment! If it's the protiene I will never be able to eat or drink dairy products again :(

I said "yes, with others" but I actually don't really KNOW about the milk, it is my own guess. I consume minimal dairy products (but daily, since I have milk with my tea). I do tend to have negative effects with it (though I know others who are much more severe). It is tough to say though because I have negative effects with MANY types of food. I am fairly certain I have a gluten intolerance (but not celiac disease), I am allergic to red dyes, and when I was younger (back in the mid 80s), my doctor told my parents to feed me only natural things--nothing with chemicals, dyes, or preservatives--due to the food intolerances.

No, but I do not think there was a single day in my life when I did not eat or drink at least one thing derived from milk. Nevertheless, I dislike milk; its taste is unpleasant and the smell is even worse. Chocolate milk, on the other hand, is something I need to drink every day.

I can't have milk or ice cream without getting severe intestinal cramps, gas and then...well..several trips to the "Throne". Same with eggs. I can have a conservative amount of nuts, pecans etc. But too much causes my skin to break out. The only "ice cream" per se that i have no issue with is the mexican coconut fruit-sickle bars.

I have always had an intolerance to lactose and I hate milk products. I don't think that there is a connaction between lactose intolerance and autism though.

I do see a connection between autism and a strong dislike and/or intolerance for certain food and beverages.

Most of the world is lactose intolerant, especially those who are not descended from Northwest Europe, or Northwest India, or a small section of Africa. The ability to digest lactose is the minority, and the mutant gene. All in all, approximately 75% of the human population cannot digest lactose past infancy. In African, Asian, Native American populations (everywhere but Europe) almost 90% of adults no longer produce the enzyme to break down lactose into glucose and galactose.

I am lactose intolerant but I can tolerate a low amount of dairy. Thats interesting that most of the world is. Dairy products mainly got so widespread because of western influence I suppose. I thought lactose intolerance was only common amongst asians. But then its a lot more widespread.

I'm glad the OP asked this question. It is one I have been curious about. I am lactose intolerant and I have both food sensitivities and allergies. I've had "mystery hives" where I am not sure if it was the food, a chemical, a mold or what was the cause. I have to watch my wheat intake - it makes me irritable, foggy, and tired. I use mostly other grains. I don't think it's the gluten because I can eat other products with gluten. I am allergic to bell peppers. I don't eat restaurant food very much and when I do it is pretty boring because I stick to what I know I can handle. I end up with the runs a lot and just misery. I don't like eating if other people cook because I am wary and I check everything - and then people upset. I just like to look after my own food.

If you want to see how you do with lactose, when you get up in the morning and on an empty stomach have a glass of milk and nothing else for about 30 minutes. If your stomach is bothering you, there's a good chance you have lactose intolerance. I drink fortified rice and soy milk - vanilla flavored. You can buy lactose free milk. It is really sweet and takes some getting used to. I just don't like milk anymore. You can also buy enzymes, but I am not interested. I do get away with a little yogurt provided I don't have it too often and a very small amount of hard cheese. Cream cheese, sour cream, cottage cheese, and ice cream are so hard on my stomach. I think ice cream is the worst.

Yes, badly. I've never gotten gas or an upset stomach from it; it's always diarrhea. I start feeling it in my gut less than 5 minutes after I eat dairy.

No, I don't, even though I drink soy or almond milk.

On the other hand, I used to eat grapes by the dozen whenever my mom bought grapes. Now, whenever I eat grapes, no matter how many I eat, I always got stomach cramps and have to...well, you get the idea.
{Same with oranges, mandarins, strawberries, cherries, blueberries, and the like.}
