Even if they found a cure it would only help the younger people that have autisim..as we have been effected too badly for it to have any effect on us!
life has been given a lot of us a lot of baggage that we could never leave behind..bad memories and moulded us into who we are today because of the past....so yes it would be great! to find a cure for this damm condition..but too late for me! :(

There already is a cure, its called adaptation and learning social skills.

To make an aspie into a true NT would require rewiring the brain, it would probably turn you into a vegetable until you relearned everything again.

You would have the rapid decrease in technological innovation and technological adaptation if this gained broad acceptance among the general populace. I my opinion any country that did this would be turned into a dirt poor third world nation in 1 or 2 generations at most.

I don't think there's a cure for my AS any more than there is a cure for my green eyes.

That's not to glamorize autism or anything. Obviously, big big work and major coping skills are required. But that's about all one can do: work and learn and adapt as best one can.

I feel that if my weirdnesses were taken away, I would be someone else entirely.

Selective breeding? I'd worry about that, personally.

The only parts I really need to be cured is the associated anxiety and sensory issues, the rest is mostly just the NT world needs far more tolerance and understanding and then it would be a lot better.
