A pair of steel toe boots, a two handed machete, a book on origami (<--- special interest), some laptop accessories, a movie.
The strange part is that I asked for most of the stuff I got; my birthday is in two weeks and, I honestly don't want anything. Maybe I'll ask for a block of carbon steel (sword and knife making), and a mic for my computer (+ the mic doubles as a chronograph :D). Can't really ask for anything else tbh- I don't need anything... makes me feel spoiled by comparison to some friends of mine...

Money from my mother, that I had to spend on a locksmith because my husband lost the keys to the van. Thats really all I got. She only gave me that because I needed locksmith money. Otherwise I wasn't getting anything.

The only ASD sort of thing I got FOR ME was two Bible quiz books. This is ASDish for me because theology and bible studies is my special interest right now. I also got the Hunger Games which is my current favourite movie. I got a few things for new apartment: spice rack, slow cooker, glass containers, dish towels. Also got a few gift cards and some other things.

I got a college textbook on genetics, suspenders, socks, two video games (a strategy game called Tropico and the xbox version of Jeopardy haha), candy, batteries, and some cash. we went out to see Les Miserables as a family as well. it was pretty but I had to lock myself in my room for a few hours to recover from the heat and overcrowding of the theater.

I would imagine the genetics textbook was probably an aspie thing as it has nothing to do with anything I'm studying or plan to do with my life, I just hate to feel illiterate about a subject so when my brother went to a used bookstore and asked me for a subject for my christmas present I gave him a few suggestions which were all things I felt embarrassed I wasn't conversant on to at least a basic level, molecular genetics being high up on that list as it's a very high profile subject for me to know so little about.

my brother (also ASD though undiagnosed) got (from me) the first volume of an English translation of the Philokalia (a collection of Hesychast aphorisms from the 4th to 15th centuries) and two Orthodox ikons, one a Byzantine replica and one a Russian from Seraphino, (he is considering converting to Orthodoxy and it was one of my special interests in the past - theology and spiritual praxis in general is my main special interest and I had an Eastern Orthodox phase several years back and no money this year so he got all the stuff I had that I thought he would like, fortunately I had fairly nice and rare/high-quality things he would enjoy, since I couldn't afford to get anyone else anything.)

edit: oh, and my dog got two new toys so I guess that's sort of a present to me?

This might be a little off topic but I just noticed that the last poster (Ca2MgFe5Si8O22OH2) has as their username the formula of a mineral (Tremolite) which is a form of asbestos.

I got a nice feeling, like in a few more hours all this commercial pretentious rubbish will be over and we can get back to some sense of normality.

Oh but then there is another falseness to come, shaking hands with people you don't know and might not want to if you did.

I ended up with something like;
- three dictionaries
- an ugly lamp
- a LOT of thermo cups (I very rarely drink anything hot)
- a rubber duck in a lunch box
- some kitchen utensils

Nothing I really couldn't cope with actually, which was a bless.
I've told people about my AS and equipped people with ideas of what I wish for. This makes it a LOT easier for me to say thanks and all that.

The ugly lamp and the duck in the box I got from my "spare family" which are about as crazy as I am, so I can actually tell them "oh my, THAT IS UGLY" without offending anyone.

I was about to melt down twice (we've celebrated Christmas three days in a row, different places) and there was a LOT of noise and music and kids the first place and a lot of people I don't like the third place.
Headphones and music was the helper :D

I got lots of different things, but two of my favorites were a year-long subscription to Lumosity.com and a Block Design-esque puzzle game to strengthen my visual-spatial skills.

Watercolor safe paper, heavy drawing paper, a little sketch pad, a bunch of charcoal/graphite/colored pencils, a new set of shimmery water colors, a new set of acrylic/tempera/watercolor/poster paint brushes, pastels, and various blending tools.

I also got a PSN gift card, and $200 dollars (which I spent on a 7'' Kindle Fire HD).

I'm likely to get a little when my family has the family Christmas party on the 30th (which we couldn't have on the 25th because a few family members couldn't make it to our family holiday party at our house this year).

My parents gave me a new coat (which I picked myself) and money. I also got a purse, perfume and a ridiculous amount of chocolate and cookies.

My 7yr old daughter got what many boys her age probably got: a roboraptor, Playmobil sets, Doctor Who items, a wand, which Santa's little elf (I) made, some books and loads of other stuff. She also got a mountain of clothes, which she doesn't care two hoots for, most of which was from my parents, so I picked the items specifically for the best chance of her agreeing to wear them.
