I have these issues too.

I am really just recognizing them for what they are for the first time and I believe all of this falls under the heading of "executive function" or more accurately "executive dysfunction"

The psychiatrist who diagnosed me with AS suggested that certain CBT exercises might help, but said this was not an unusual problem for Aspies and basically encouraged me to keep struggling with it There is no quick fix for this.

The exercises he suggested are from the book "Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy for Adult Asperger Syndrome."

One of the ways I've developed to deal with these challenges (since learning I was Aspie) was to make an effort to incorporate those mundane (and sometimes necessary) things into my routine. Seem to find that, if I can manage to get it into my routine, I'll execute them reliably. I'm highly organized at work as long as I can minimize/optimize the perceived mundane aspects. For me, it seems "mundane" means most things that don't provide some form of challenge intellectually, like paying bills, filing paper, folding laundry - or is just not enjoyable. But, if I get into my routine I'll get it done without the mental chatter over how boring, slow, unproductive the task is. Also noticed the whole routine thing can work to my detriment (if I don't get these perceived boring, but necessary, tasks incorporated, or get actual unproductive things stuck in the routine).
