These categories mean zilch to me.

I don't believe "functioning" can be measured along a spectrum.

And there's nothing "mild" about Asperger's Disorder.

Uh...how about 1.5?

The "mild Asperger's" sounds too mild for me, but high functioning autism sounds like too much.

I do get and can tell jokes and be witty and sarcastic. But I get in trouble with my literal concrete thinking, blunt honesty and MANY social blunders. I don't make friends easily, but I do have a few good friends. I can operate in a social environment if I know most of the people there. I talk a mile a minute and am clumsy as hell. I have significant sensory issues and marked executive functioning problems. The anxiety issues -- diagnosed panic disorder in my case -- are a major problem for me. My medication was recently changed because my previous meds were no longer working. Went from an SNRI (Effexor) to SSRI (Paxil) along with a benzo (Ativan).

Maybe instead of one "spectrum", there should be several taken together -- a social one, a cognitive one, a motor skills one, etc. It's lists like these that make me wonder whether Asperger's shouldn't still be a condition of its very own rather than grouped with "classic" autism. It seems to me that traits are measured in a different way than in autism so the two can't really be compared deep down.

I fit the "severe Asperger's" category. I need a full-time support worker at university and I have multiple disabilities.

I don't know where I fit. I have been diagnosed with high-functioning classic autism, but according to your descriptions, I would not put myself in the HFA category. Maybe moderate autism to severe asperger's based on your descriptions....

Generally a source would be nice.

However I would place myself in the "moderate Asperger's" category.

Agreed that a resource would be nice. I also fit "moderate". People seem to genuinly believe IAM 15 in looks and actions but in actuality I am29. Will be 30 this may.

Hehehe....you may be right about that. I'm not a native Texan, so maybe I can still be cured.

Having been diagnosed this past June  at the age of 54, I think I may be extremely mild. I went bipolar, no thanks to psychiatry. A LOT of mental illness can be resolved without resorting to medication. CBT, DBT and ABA may take longer and are more expensive, but have better results in the long run. It's just because Big PHARMA and the insurance companies are pretty much in cahoots with each other that the public is in the poor shape they are in mentally. If you think the Federal Government is here to protect us, think again! The FDA has gotten so corrupt, no thanks to all the back room dealing that goes on, we may never be able find out what really goes on. Read Robert Whitaker's blog, http://www.psychologytoday.com/blog/mad-in-america, for the story.

I speak from experience, since Viibryd pretty much put me in the state I'm currently in.

Quite a few people try to cut up the spectrum according to a small number of varying rules. It doesn't work.

On that I'd be mild Asperger's but in real life I don't really have enough traits to be Asperger's. I'm just Asperger's like.

On that my father would be moderate Asperger's but in real life he has enough traits to be comfortably an Aspergic, but there are no reasons for him to be classed as moderate.

Normally i am considered HFA, however with this list it sounds more like the moderate.
I'll have to get evaluated again eventually. For the new DSM-V levels out of 1, 2, 3 i would be a 2 according to my gf and mother.
My mother is a psychologist, but no she doesn't diagnose me, yet she is familiar with the terms and goes to Autism conferences along with
the mental health ones. My mother's biggest concern for me (also my case workers at one point) was me having a "quality of life".
Me and my gf of 5 years ended up moving to Fla.
