Why is it inappropriate to correct a teacher? My teachers would get really annoyed with me when I pointed out an error, even if they corrected it later, but I've always thought it's better for someone to point it out than the whole class be taught something that wasn't correct. I think they thought I believed myself to be better than them, but I was honestly just trying to be helpful.

Because the communist run the school system, That's why. Remember your teacher is only interested in protecting their paycheck. So it doesn't matter whether they are right or wrong, They represent authority and what they say is THE LAW!! period.. Maybe you need to read George Orwell's 1984. That will defiantly help you out.

I've always hated the "virgin" question because the way some people ask it, it's a double edged sword. Saying you are a virgin makes you seem like a prude, while saying you aren't can make you sound like a "slut." Usually I just say "That's a private question," and leave it at that.

Regarding comments like "your work is terrible"; I prefer them to vapid, insincere praise. I will never understand why people prefer to wallow in mediocrity rather than confront it. I prefer to know the honest opinions of those around me, but I have learned to temper my own opinions.

I don't care about age or weight questions, but then I'm not old or over/underweight.

Here are some of my own:

1. Why is it considered rude not to "stay in touch" with people when you genuinely have nothing worthwhile to tell them?

2. Why is it inappropriate to wear head gear (hats, hoods, etc.) indoors?

3. Why can't a guy grow his hair out anymore without everyone insisting that he gets a haircut?

1. Don't know, don't honestly care. people that get mad at me for it are not my friends much longer.

2. I think because it is tied to superstition? or suggests one has something to hide.

3. because long hair is considered feminine and anything feminine is less worthy in nt culture.

ane one of my own. if someone asks where you got something then why do they get in a huff if you are honest and say craigslist or a thrift shoppe?

....say in a joking away about having Asperger's when a semi friend misreads your nonverbal cues.

....tell someone "the floor is too slippery as it is" when he gets a blister in Tae Kwon Do and is debating whether to puncture it or not. The loor was pretty slippery sweat (most of it mine, lol).

....when a girl mentions that the bathroom door gender symbols in a bar are confusing ("Keep Austin Weird!"), joke about standing next to them for 5 minutes to see who goes into which one in order to avoid "women screaming and calling the cops."

These are examples of things I have said the past week about which I was unsure.

This is very weird - there is a certain social stigma about being a virgin. Most NT people interpret this as being a "loser" or a "weirdo". They use it as fuel for mockery and bullying.

Virginity is not something people can see. What is weird and creepy is the fact that an aspie guy at a support group I attend is always talking about being a virgin -- and always talking about sex in general, not to mention trying to fit female orgasm into every single topic of conversation. What you don't say can't hurt you.

Even if someone asks, you can say "that's private." I still do this, and I'm not.

In the spirit of correcting what we believe to be wrong...Surely a teacher only concerned with job security and money is capitalist rather than somehow influenced by supposed communist controlled school system, no? In my experience teachers have tended to be either apolitical or more socialist than communist.

As a side-note, I adore 1984 and it is one of my favourite books but, rather than being a book describing communism as I think you might be suggesting, I see much of the content of the book played out to some degree today by the political right-wing today. Just think of the spin we see to justify so many economically-motivated political moves dressed up as somehow moral necessity. Use of fear (terrorism, recession, etc) to limit freedoms and push financially motivated agendas etc etc. Propaganda and it's ilk have been around long before the advent of communism and exist in their own right as techniques to exercise power over the masses.

I guess I use the word "communism" a little loosely. Has to do with growing up in the 1980's. I used to correct teachers all the time and I always believed that was the right thing to do until I saw the movie "1984" and then I stopped doing that altogether. BTW: I read the book later.

Took me a LONG time to have that idea finally beaten in my head and for the most part it's true. I do remember as a kid saying how school was like a minimum security prison only to be told that I was just a stupid kid and as an adult I would see the error in that logic. Fast forward to age 30 and I am even more convinced, especially when I was able to learn something in a week that is supposed to take about 100 hours to learn at school. Yes the world of 1984 is much closer than most people think, only it turned out more like Huxley's Brave New World instead where nobody except us misfits even think of challenging the status quo.

As Lennon said "they hate you if you're clever and despise a fool". Those words get more and more truthful the older I get. I say that even though I was a teacher's pet and model student. I know realize that the reason I was railroaded out of my first job was not because I was a bad worker but I was too intelligent and much smarter than my supervisors and managers. I had a lot to learn about how the world really works as a teenager!

I can't understand:
* Why it's inappropriate to make fun of children, the disabled, etc but it's perfectly OK to make fun of an Aspie like me? As well, why do bullies consider it cowardly to attack a girl or younger child but have no problem attacking someone like me 10 on 1?
* Why is it inappropriate to make fun of someone's race, but perfectly fine to ridicule their nationality?
* Why is in rude to point out that someone is wrong about say a sports rule by using the rulebook to show them?
* Why is it wrong to suggest the national anthem being sung before every sporting event is a waste of time? Why do people get REALLY upset when I suggest that?

My point being...that you don't describe a woman as 'in heat' that is reserved for dogs and other animals. It is correctly described as a woman being at her most fertile period/phase.

like I said. If the teacher holds up four fingers and asks you "How many fingers am I holding up.". You better say five.

Unfortunately, I was a big Hans Christian Anderson fan as a child. I knew the emperor had no clothes and I was the only one who said it  That combined with my naive nature would probably explain why the teachers practically encouraged the bullies to have a field day with me.
I honestly thought the teachers were infallible at one point. They sure loved to assert their authority and loved to remind us we had practically no autonomy. Heck, prisoners have more rights than schoolchildren at times.

hmm..... sounds like a double standard

I don't know. apparently that's just how the world works now :(

Quote:

It's not rude. Some people may not like to be told that they're wrong and become defensive and say "that's rude!" I personally also have a hard time sometimes being told that I'm wrong, but if you show me proof (exp. the rulebook) I'll believe it.

For this last one, I don't know, but maybe they think you have no respect for the USA? (no offense, it's just a guess)

Why do people ask "do I look fat in this?" when they don't want to know the answer?

Me too. I have always said school was a prison. It isn't about learning, it's about learning to do what you are told and not question. A useful skill in the workforce, yes?
