Hi, I love biting my nails right down as far as possible, and all the cuticles around. I think this is a combination of liking the mouth sensation, and of being overly focused on details rather than on the hand. I see only a ragged cuticle that MUST be perfected, instead of seeing a hand with bitten and red fingers.

Although I was very skinny as a child, I love putting things in my mouth, and will nibble on sweet things now just for the pleasure in my mouth. Further, I chew the insides of my cheeks and the sides of my tongue, sometimes biting chunks out of it, mostly just chewing it like chewing gum. The pressure on my teeth and sensation of squeezing my tongue is relaxing and mesmerising to me. As a child I also used to suck my hair, and I sucked my thumb until 14. omg it tasted so good!

My other taste/texture problems include a loathing of SLS toothpaste. Sodium Lauryl Sulphate brings up enormous painful mouth ulcers, and makes the taste buds on my tongue pop up very sore. I am also over sensitive to spices. The slightest spicy or pepper barbeque sauce, even a tiny sprinkle in the batter around chicken, causes weeping in pain, tears streaming from my eyes. The smell of curry gives me a migraine.

Does anyone else chew their tongue?
