Hi restlesspirit I relate to what you posted.
As for me: 2 DVD's with the entire first two series of P.G. Wodehouse's Jeeves and Wooster, snacks, a long bike ride, and a glass of wine. Not necessarily in that order.

Hello. I didn't realize it was that day again until I read the posts in this thread. I've always thought it is rather a laughable day.

By thinking 'oh another thursday.' and go about my usual activities, I suppose I have never gotten attached to that particular holiday.

Where I come from people don't really make too much of a fuss about valentine's day. Kids at school are the worst, and young people that are in love may be into it and buy each other valentine's gifts, but they don't look upon those that don't celebrate it or haven't got a valentine to celebrate with. Even my NT cousin (23 years old) put on Facebook ''my valentine this year is [name of his favourite Xbox game]'', and then there was a lot of comments just discussing the game. Nobody ridiculed him, and I know he hasn't got a girlfriend anyway.

It was worse when I was at High School. Some kids did look upon you if you didn't have a girl or boy to send a valentine's card to or receive one from, and if you did, everyone would gather round and make a tremendous fuss over it and broadcast it over the school. It was horrible.

I couldn't help myself, and I lost my cool on a bus. I told this one woman who said
"I have such a hard time expressing myself." that there was nothing happy about
involuntary celibacy; when she wished someone a "happy valentines day."

On top of our little inner city gatherings, the mall decided to have a giant woman's dance festival
for immigration donations.

I'm gonna make me some popcorn, maybe homemade ice cream too and watch some Bond movies. James Bond: the ultimate bachelor.

Surviving the day is easy. Normal for me in most respects really. None of my exes were worth keeping, so I don't hav many mushy memories to make me sad. and when I hear what other women put up with to keep a guy, I'm glad I don't hav one in my life anymore. My only issue with today is how I hav to do the whole fake gushing over stuff my coworkers get, and I'm not good at it. Not because I'm jealous but because I'm aspie. But then its sort of funny to me when my "counselor" coworker doesn't understand that. And even funnier to me when she makes a huge deal out of her husband's v-day delivery; and even making comments trying to make me feel bad; when he recently cheated on her in their house with some younger thinner girl. Yeah relationships are grand. All that suffering for some cheesey gifts. Happy valentine's day!! = )

Valentine's day is a stupid holiday, all it does is depress you when you have to think of people you used to celebrate it with who aren't around any more, not to mention it just makes you feel pathetic when you don't have anyone to spend it with; I've never been remotely interested in relationships, but I always felt like a loser in high school seeing all the couples trading flowers and valentines and knowing I'd be one of the only ones sending them to myself. Why would you want to make a holiday for a guy who got executed for marrying people the church didn't want married? It's sort of oxymoronically morbid if you think about it.

And of course, she saw the error of her ways and went home with you to live happily ever after, amirite?

The only thing I look forward to on Valentine's Day are the buy one get one free coffee deals. I'll drink a ton of caffeine and then play violent shooting games for the rest of the night while pretending I don't have 8 am class tomorrow. I used to celebrate Valentine's Day in elementary school by making boxes and giving my classmates cards with candy. I honestly haven't celebrated Valentine's Day since 6th grade because I honestly don't care anymore. It's not worth my time to get too worked up about things which are far out of my reach.

I have had a valentine card about 30 years ago. I am not sure who sent it though as they forgot to put their name on it.
