Both parents were in their early 20s. 21-22, I believe.

Mom was 35, Dad I'm not sure, but probably late 40s/early 50s. When my one son was born, I was 34 and so was his dad. My other son, I was 42 and his dad was 45. But my mom had older parents. She was the youngest of 10. There is a pattern of older parents in my family.

The option both in their 60's seems to be missing here.

I couldn't vote, as my parents' age combination isn't in the list. My mother was 41, and my father was 67 when I was born. And I was my mother's first & only pregnancy... Lucky I'm even here; autism or otherwise!

The both died when I was in my early 20s; my father of old-age, and my mother of diabetes.

Short sighted of me not to add 60+... my apologies

I don't believe that parents age is a factor, simply because until we know what causes autism we can't be sure - I don't think it's fair to imply fault of parents for having children later in life.

Given the results of this poll, me neither.

I thought the results would validate the research, now it looks like any other autism research - total bollocks.

(Addendum to earlier post)
I had heard that an older father is a factor increasing the chances of autism, which in my case is true... I hadn't heard anything about the mother's age.

My mum was 25, my dad was 29. But I still had to be born a freak. *sigh*.

CORRECTION: I cast my vote of both my parents being in their forties, but I thought the question was asking how old they are now, not when they had me.

The correct answer would be they both were in their twenties when they had me. Mom turned twenty-two a couple of months later, and Dad was going to be twenty-five that June.

I didn't read the thread properly, so voted for how old they are now. Oops...sorry!

They were in their late 20s.

My mom was 28, and I think my dad was about the same age.

I was the youngest of three kids. My Mom was 26 when I was born and my Dad was 29. (I picked the wrong choice, btw...my Dad is 30 years older than me for half the year, so I picked Dad in my 30s and Mom younger. It just dawned on me he was actually still 29 when I was born.)

Oops ,I voted how old they were now(40s), but proper answer would be that they were in their thirties when I was born
