Oh dear! Not all healthy foods are tasteless / inedible though - one can have quite a variety of delicious fruits and vegetables without being a rabbit!
But perhaps your mother didn't know that... :D

I'm sure diet can affect one for better or worse, and have to confess that although I generally eat healthy food, I have a sweet tooth, and an addiction to coffee.

But I've never smoked and haven't drank alcohol for years although I don't consider myself a teetotaller. I just don't usually like the taste anymore.

I was on Ritalin before and it was really effective for me, but then I got tolerance and nothing in the Ritalin family works for me.

It's been a godsend for me. I take Concerta, the extended release version. It's easier to focus, switch tasks, and generally stop from zoning out or even going to sleep when nothing interesting is happening.

I have never had any bad side effects, except losing my appetite for a few days when I first started it. I didn't have any problem with that afterward and didn't lose any weight in the long run.

It's not some kind of magic fix, but it does make it easier for me to use the skills I have learned to concentrate, organize myself and my thoughts, and generally be more productive than I'd otherwise be.

I took Ritalin from around 12 yrs old til 17. Then Cylert.
Take 60mg Adderall now at 35yrs old.

I am happier without it. But, everyone else around me is happier when I'm taking it.

I was put on ritalin for a while when I was very young because I was misdiagnosed with ADHD... My parents took me off it because I couldn't sleep (was actually crying from sleep deprivation) also I have difficulty peeing and keeping still. At the time I really had no idea what the hell was happening to me. If I had realised I had been on the equivalent of SPEED - I would have requested to be taken off it sooner.

However nowadays, I really feel like I could use it. My motivation and concentration are terrible and I have an unstoppable (but not uncontrollable) appetite. I really feel like it could help me at this point; but as it's abused often it's hard to get hold of these days unless you do it illegitimately; and I'm too afraid of the repercussions to do that (because prison probably isn't a good environment for me at all...)

I'm on no meds currently. Not sure about the future though, since I was recently diagnosed with anxiety and depression I suspect I may either be put onto therapy or if that doesn't work effectively; be put onto some sort of antidepressant or anti-anxiety medications; which I have heard can actually do more damage than good anyway...

Meh...

When I was 12 my mom took me to a psychiatrist and had me put on ritalin. I fought her tooth and nail about it all the way. Although, within the first few days of taking it I started peeing blood, so they took me off. I had to be on medicine for a while to fix that too.

The part that makes me the most mad was that they stuck me with a psychiatrist for 28 minutes before he prescribed it... and the whole time, all I did was cry. I've always wondered how the heck he could think that he had enough information to make that call.
