A deep question: why so many people here have cat avatars?

The cat in my avatar is Miss Kitty Fantastico from Buffy the Vampire Slayer. In the fourth season, Willow and Tara moved in together and got the kitten.

I picked the avatar because a former poster who spent a lot of time trying to figure out whether he was autistic or not once asked why NTs and autistics each favored certain kinds of avatars. I forget what it was, but one group (in his observation) had cat avatars and the other had fictional characters, so I picked a fictional cat.

Also, I like cats a lot. And while it may be true that many cats are cuter, I happen to like cats. As far as "bathroom habits" that's more a reflection on their owners and how well their owners manage their litter than anything.

I actually own that book. I got it as a gift from a cousin one Christmas.

Also, I got my avatar because I am fond of black cats. Why? Because I own one and they remind me of Salem from Sabrina, the Teenage Witch.

If you have AS and relate to cats, you're normal

Mmm... I'm very ruled oriented. I really hate when people break rules. This is not a cat mentality. Cats are not very keen of following rules

I hope you do not change your cat avatar, as I got very used to it, and I like your cat.
I do not know if I understand your last sentence correctly, but my cats do remind me actively to manage the litter and sometimes to manage their food.
It is a pattern.
I am for example at the computer and one comes and starts touching me with the paw and starts purring.
That reminds me after a while that I have to follow her.
Following her she goes to the eating place or litter and then I see what she needs.
The only "fixed" meal is in the morning routine.
After that I have no routine, but they remind me on their routine.

Yeah, this is normal for cats.

What I meant is that people who say their cats have sloppy or bad "bathroom" habits likely do not change the litter often enough, or do not have enough litter boxes, and then the cats get desperate and look for alternatives...and they get blamed even though it's the owners who fail to take proper care of them.

But they are keen on following their own rules, wouldn't you say so? Routine-oriented as aspies (:

I just thought that the cat on my avatar looked like me when I'm freaking out or about to have a meltdown. :D

Your Aspie score: 135 of 200
Your neurotypical (non-autistic) score: 70 of 200
You are very likely an Aspie

I see.
You mean cats peeing on places apart from the litter.
It happend when my male cat had an infection of the urinary tract, and then I learned by reading that they avoid the litter as they associate the litter with the pain when they have to pee.
He got hospitalized for one day for that condition but got dismissed from the clinic because he pulled out the tube to broaden his urinary tract and ate it.
But he is fine now.

I forgot to mention that health problems can cause litter problems too. Thank you for the reminder.

I'm a total dog person! I just like looking at funny cats on YouTube. Also, I have 2 cat calendars. One has "bad cats", meaning cat in weird poses with funny sayings. The other is just cutesy cats, so I make my own cat-tion..

Also, how can I get an avatar?

But you are right as well, as people can neglect their cats and cannot read the signs they are giving.
Though these signs are much more clear than human signs.

You need to send a request to American Standard Avatar Institute describing the kind of avatar you'd like. If some avatar that fits your description becomes free on internet, then they send you back a permission that allows you to use it.

Never use an avatar you're not allowed to. Avatar identity theft can be prosecuted and is highly punished :D

Thanks. No it's not my my cat. :( I used to have a cat with that colouring. I like ginger cats. Also, what the avatar is doing is what I think I'd be doing if I were a cat: cringing and ears back when someone tries to touch me and pawing at some dangling thing. I like your cat too.
