I kind of like Aspie, really, but whatever. If it's Autie then I'll run with that. (Sounds like Gene Autry, doesn't it?)

In my experence on WP, Labels get in the way. Every other day (it seems) there's the ever popular "HFA vs. AS" debate.

Not to mention PDD-NOS vs. everything else on the spectrum. Technically speaking, I'm not an Aspie so I don't mind what will happen with it. Maybe it would have been a better choice to keep Asperger's as an umbrella term for the higher-functioning, verbally more-abled folks, in accordance with the public-meaning of the term.

I believe "Autie" stands for the more autistic, less-abled folks.

People can use whatever they want to use.

I will continue to use "autistic."

It's just a change of jargon in medical literature. People will still continue to use the term "Aspergers" and related phrases. Personally, I prefer the word "autistic" to "aspie", but it really doesn't matter in the large scale so long as common definitions are agreed upon.
