[quote="fueledbycoffee"]I tend to go with absurdist, sarcastic humor, myself. With my best friend, we always seem to end up doing sarcastic little skits and riffing off of each other, each of us playing a role that we're lampooning. Another thing I like about my lack of "empathy" is that I have no idea when to quit. A good friend's girlfriend died a while back. We're sitting in the waiting room, he's pretty much suicidal, and I (Who really should've been overcome with sadness as this girl was a good friend as well), was cracking jokes and doing everything humanly possible to get him to laugh. He thanked me later.

Like that 8) - thing is humour can help someone in ways that general hand-clasping poo facedness can't, know it has helped me out many dark times. When my mother died - I will give the short version and say we did not have a good relationship! - I was very thankful to have a friend I could laugh and cry with about it, alternatively. That kind of thing is pure gold!

Ditto at grandmothers and mothers funerals! Being understood is the best feeling, probably because it is so rare.

My humor mainly consists of sarcasms, puns, taking things literally although knowing it is meant figuratively (how do you say that in English).

I work at school and pupils (especially teenage girls between 14 and 18 years old) say I am generally in a better mood than other personnel members. They often greet me. And they like my humor, mainly sarcasm and puns. I have gained some popularity between my colleagues and female pupils. (It is harder for me to handle teenage boys, although there are some girls that I find nasty and boys that are not nasty. I must say that I trust boys less than girls.)

I don't ever make fun of people, unless they are generally condemnable, for example cruel dictators such as in Syria and North-Korea. I can also tease a bit, but I have to be accurate at looking whether my teasing is still accepted. As long as the other is smiling and/or makes jokes back, I know that I am not bullying someone.

Generally, humor and teasing may add flavor to the day, make the day less dull for both me and others.

I've definitely gotten into trouble for my humor when I was a kid. I would imitate things from Looney Tunes, Ren & Stimpy, Rocko's Modern Life, and Beavis and Butt-Head just to make my classmates laugh. My teachers would give me a warning or send me on a time-out or principal's office. I tried to keep my humor under control when I got to middle school and kept it that way up to graduation. I don't recall it getting me into trouble at work, though.

Add me to the bunch. Its so rare that what I find shall we say "entertaining" is appreciated by others. The first time I realized it would get me in trouble was in 11the grade. I was in algebra class and I loathe math. So of course, my AS humour kicked in. We were learning about imaginary numbers and I raised my hand and said I had a question. I asked "Since all numbers are a human invention, and therefore, imaginary, does that mean that imaginary numbers are real?" Next stop...principals office.

A lot of my humor is awful dry...
An example:
(Riding along with a co-worker)
Her: That car behind us kind of looks like an unmarked police car... I wonder if it's undercover cop?
Me (fairly deadpan): If it is, he's not doing a very good job.

Otherwise it can be very repetitive (I love "That's what she said" jokes (an offshoot of my obsession with The Office) and will make these joke incessantly!).

I'm known for pulling pranks on people. One of my favorite pranks I did was record messages my friends would leave on my phone and made sound boards out of them to call back people they know. You can listen to some of them here. kiwi6.com/users/distorganized The one titled "Aaron calls Liz" is by far the best. Liz is his ex who just kicked him out and I called her as Aaron wanting to move back in.

Over the years, and with the straightest possible face, I've delivered lines so obviously false but intended to be humorous, that I've gotten in trouble and berated for it. I've been working really hard on toning that dry humour down. Occasionally, it slips out.

:lmao:

I used to make teachers angry saying stuff like that, too.

Being the class comic is a viable option to the shy outsider. Worth the patronising chat with the big chief! I didn't have the confidence for this when younger, it developed in me at collage and beyond where my ability to quote comedy and film scripts verbatim was (sometimes thought not always) prized! :D

I have always had a witty sense of humour, I was known as the school comedian.

People with aspergers are suppose to lack in imagination and a sense of humour, rubbish.

Right - how can a person with aspergers be prone to fantasy AND lacking an imagination? I've alway had a vivid imagination, often prefering it to real life. But really, someone needs to rethink these obviously outdated notions about how we are!

My jokes are mostly terribly corny and just get eyerolls, though there have been quite a few exceptions.

I often get a good laugh from others, sometimes I simply laugh along to lighten my mood and be a good sport. A sense of humor is a good quality in a person IMO.

People usually don't "get it" when I make a joke. Plenty of blank stares that can rival anything autistic. So I stopped making them so now I am too serious.
