I got worse in my teen years but maybe it was because I had a crappy school counselor. Mom told me yesterday I was getting worse when I was seeing him. I don't know. He may have been part of it. He was treating me like the label so I was being more Asperger's instead of getting better and then she fired him and I kept seeing a psychologist who treated me as me instead of the label so I got better again. I was unaware of it too while I was seeing the counselor. I supposed he increased my anxiety too when I was 16 and made me go suicidal also and gave me depression. It could have been a coincidence because I was a teen and being a teen is tough for everyone but harder for me because of anxiety and AS and he wasn't helping. Instead of helping me how to deal with my issues, he was giving me the "because you have Asperger's" crap and I wouldn't even try anymore because of what he was telling me so my mother found out and fired him. So I don't think he was the cause of the whole thing.

Yes. I hate puberty. I don't even want to call myself a teenager.

Puberty was OK for me. From age 12 to 13, it was pretty rough at first because of all the changes my body was going through at the time. After 13, it was pretty much smooth sailing from there.

Yep. I became bed-confined. Now, I'm better. I think it was due to my Aspergers, poor diet and stress from family issues, school and sleep deprivation.

It varies from person to person. Most males finish puberty between the ages of 16 and 20.

You say you entered puberty at 15. That is very late (most start, so I would imagine you will be at the later end, maybe even after the "normal" range.

No I entered puberty at 12/13. Here are the ages at which things developed:

Age 12: saw first signs of pubic hair

13/14: Voice started cracking, started growing taller

15: I started getting acne, my hair started to get really dry and my hair is now really poofy, constant constipation. Some mental changes were I started having horrible memory, highly moody and emotional, my OCD got 1000x worse, and my aspergers symptoms got 1000x worse. In my opinion these are all signs that my hormones started going crazy.

All the stuff that changed when I was 15 is still in affect with my body. Before I was 15 I was kinda odd but everything got way worse when I started seeing signs that my hormones got outta wack.

You can never go backwards, you can only go forwards. Your "hormones" may not go down till your mid-20s, each person is different, and only your doctor can give you an idea of how much longer you have. You are 18, you are either on your way to (or already in) college or into the work force. Even if you have your hormones go down, you then have to work becomming a productive member of society in your own way. This will cause more problems than you have today. Life will not go backwards to how it was when you were 13, it doesn't work that way.

How you can help yourself... get a therapist who you trust and work with him/her to help you with the issues and feelings you have. Improve yourself, grow and have confidence that you are going to be the best person you can be. Learn to be happy with who you are.

Ya but all that is even worse in the state of mind I'm in right now. I feel that if my hormones level out then I will be able to handle life easier.

How do you know I won't go back to normal once I exit puberty? A lot of people experience weird things when their hormones are going crazy and once they level out they go back to their normal self. A good example of that would be pregnant women.

I understand that it's hard to hear, and you may not be in the best state of mind right now. Want to talk about some of the issues/feelings you are going through that is causing your bad state of mind? I would also like you explain what you by "normal", normal is a realitive term to a person point of view.

I dont know who told you women go back to how they were prior to being pregnant, but in my personal experance, that isn't true. ((no offense women)) but I think they get even more crazy after.

Women don't become crazier after pregnancy. It just comes out of dormancy. :P

Everyone knows that pregnant women get highly emotional, crave things, and other things related to hormones that go away after they've given birth. They go back to how they were before they got pregnant, which is there "normal" self. I'm saying the same thing is happening to me, I think I'm going through a temporary phase.

I think he means that your old "normal self" is essentially dead, during puberty you have experienced many things that will have permanently changed your personality. For example, you might be more trusting. Additionally, people treat a 20 year old differently to a 12 year old.

I have always had all the symptoms of aspergers as a child, but I could deal with it. Ever since I hit the age of about 15 however, got acne, really bad memory, always tired but can never fall asleep, always bored. I was Fine before 15 but I changed over a couple of days out of nowhere. My looks also changed during this time. All the aspergers symptoms got worse by like 1000x. I'm an 18 year old guy now, will I go back to the way I was once the hormones calm down?

My anger issues and the way I acted under distress were a lot more extreme during puberty, for instance I would run upstairs in anger/tears when I felt I was not being taken seriously by my parents and siblings, and one time I even kicked in the doors of my closet causing one of them to hang lose, until I bought myself a closet when I was in my early 20's.

But after puberty I taught myself that breaking my own stuff because I was angry was not only ineffective it also gets rather expensive, and learned techniques to deal with my anger in another way, that doesn't mean I never get the same feelings that would cause such an outburst at my current age, but If it really gets bad I punch a pillow on my couch instead, and vent by calling my mother or discussing it with my coach.

I think it will go in waves, and you will learn how to deal with certain traits eventually while getting older, but I would strongly suggest to make sure you do not have to deal with this on your own, make sure you always have someone you can talk to so you can vent.

For me it went from having a lot of emotional problems during puberty, into a superiority complex during college, which lead to a severe depression in my early 20's, and now brought me to a period of acceptance, and I am now better able to adjust my negative traits because I understand them better.

It will be a rocky road emotionally, and you will have to keep on working on yourself to learn how to deal with your behavior.

In a way the extremity of my autism during puberty has mainly helped me to understand my autism better.
