>uncle, informaly identified as on the spectrum by autism specialists of mine; dads brother, we always wonder what relative will kick off and misinterpret what he says next, loads of family hate him but he is actualy a caring guy who lives on his own on the family farm and hand rears lots of animals that have been abandoned by their mums from his herds/flocks-most farmers woud not give a damn,he is also asexual but has been called gay all his life purely because he isnt dragging some woman around all the time like hetros.
>cousin, diagnosed with classic autism, he didnt get diagnosed till eigteen though as ireland is bloody ridiculous for autism awareness and they labeled him with schizophrenia,he is high functioning but went to special school, typical traditional catholic school;they were awful as they punished him for stimming and made him feel like a freak for doing it so he had no way to channel the stuff going on in him and ended up on medication, his biggest impairment is anxiety.
>auntie, informaly identified to be on the spectrum by autism specialists of mine, she is mums sister, she is high functioning but is severely affected, she cant leave the house without her husband and she is a 'crazy cat lady' and hoards homeless cats, but in a caring way; she spends all her food money on them which the husband constantly gives out over.
Reading this I think, that there is a possibility, that more people from father's side might qualify for autism/BAP, but there is no contact to this side of family at all..........they were just described by neurotypical part of family as being "odd" and worse "crazy" and stuff.......people to "avoid"........
Neurotypical part of family (like mother) does not understand autism at all.
She said, that I have been "normal" until she finally joined my assessment recently (I am diagnosed now for almost 2.5 years, but without "childhood reference", but people assessing me said, it was a clear case).
Now finally the mother did the official childhood-assessment a couple weeks ago and it is clearly autistic (high-scores), but before it was only me being a naughty child = bad character.
