Watching cartoons as an adult has nothing to do with Asperger's.

My mother is over 50 and still watches cartoons sometimes in her free time.
Oh and she's an NT.

But when I watch them I can recite lines from the cartoon word for word. I do it with movies and other programs too

My two NT cousins still like Tom and Jerry, and they're both teenagers.

I used to watch children's programmes after coming home from school at about half past 3, but could no longer watch them when I got to high school because I finished later so time I got home children's programmes had finished, and were the programmes for older kids, what I sometimes watched.

I love the Simpsons and South Park, they are cool, but like the OP said, they don't count.

Katie and Orbie was such a cute show!! I'd totally watch it now, if it were still on TV. :?

You can get seasons 1 and 4-6 on DVD, thats what I did, I did not discover it until I was 22, I am glad I finally did though. Its really mature for a kids show since it deals with so meny mature yet realistic topics. Presision Transfer/Express Media in Ottawa Ontario sells them online for like $20 a season, not cheap however my love for the show was just too great, and I have yet to see someone else sell them, I think they are made on demand since the ink on the DVD label smelled so fresh despite the copyright on the label being 2001! If anyone comes across seasons 2-3 let me know.

Also the Alfred Hedgehog show I mentioned was written by Mary Mackay-Smith, the person who wrote the final 2 or 3 seasons of Katie and Orbie, no wonder I like it so much.

I also do that.
My mother doesn't.

But still she watches cartoons and she is NT and over 50.
I've also heard about a lot of other NT adults that enjoy watching cartoons in their free time, with their children, too.
So I don't really think it has to do with AS.

I love Pixar movies and cartoons, and I'm 38.

Though oddly sometimes they make me want to cry.

My absolute favourite are Roadrunner cartoons. I love the way the outcome is so predictable, but watching how they get to it. Really clever for "lowbrow" entertainment.

I'd probably like Anime but know nothing about it. My ex showed me Howl's Moving Castle and I loved that. Anyone got any recommendations? Nothing too freaky tvm.

I'm 22 and I still enjoy watching cartoons. And when I was a child, my NT dad enjoyed the cartoons I watched as much as I did. And sometimes even more (F.e. the Flinstones and Tom & Jerry!)

I'm 47 and enjoy watching Sponge Bob, Phenious and Ferb, and a few other cartoons my kids watch. I've even turned my kids onto a few from the past. I've watched cartoons my whole life and probably will continue to watch them.

Chuck Jones' was actually trying to parody all the old Keystone Kops type of chase scenes, as well as Tom and Jerry when Warner Bros. developed that series.

I did see some anime several years ago on SciFi channel late night on Fridays. Whether they still run anime of late Friday's, I don't know, as I never really cared for Science Fiction. If my brothers or I would bring that stuff in the house, it immediately got thrown in the trash, since Mom and Dad considered that type of writing as stupid and ignorant. We were not even allowed to watch Star Trek, Lost in Space or the Twilight Zone as kids, as it was considered to be a corrupting influence.

Give Sailor Moon a try. I use this site: http://www.animehere.com/

In the U.S., that show was most westerners' "introduction" to anime, period.

Inuyasha and FullMetal Alchemist are also good. My other "favorite" is VERY "freaky"--a short series called Paranoia Agent.

A friend of mine recently discovered Girls Bravo, Chobits and Ouran High School Host Club. I don't really know about those.

I'm 40, and I love Looney Tunes, anything done by Tex Avery (silly, isn't it?), Tom and Jerry, The Grim Adventures of Billy and Mandy, Spongebob, Family Guy (sometimes - as they take the jokes too far and gross them out at times). I have watched DBZ, and even though anime isn't really my thing, I will watch Inuyasha (pardon the spelling error), and even Rozen Maiden. There are others that I like too, but none come to mind right now.

Yes, I started watching them late, I didn't watch or like like them much as a child but I did watch them as a teen and do as an adult.

I'd like to recommend:

Tiger & Bunny
Rurouni Kenshin
Inuyasha

Tiger & Bunny is a great entry point into anime for those unfamiliar with the genre, since it is similar in tone/style to American cartoons and deals with superheroes. Heck, I don't even like superheroes in general but absolutely adored T&B. The story takes place in the future in a fictional city called Sternbild, where people born with superpowers (called NEXT) don costumes and fight crime while being filmed for a live TV show called Hero TV. The plot focuses on a clumsy, righteous veteran hero who is forced by his sponsor to team up with an aloof rookie.

Rurouni Kenshin and Inuyasha are action/comedy/drama/romance series that take place at different points in Japanese history (RK taking place in the Meiji Era and IY taking place in the Sengoku Era).

Rurouni Kenshin is about a wandering swordsman who takes up residence in a young woman's dojo, forms friendships with the locals and deals with warriors from his dark, blood-stained past.

Inuyasha is about a teenage girl who accidentally discovers a portal to the past in her grandfather's shrine. There she meets the title character, a half-demon bent on taking an artifact that the girl possesses. When the artifact shatters, both the demon and the girl must team up in order to collect the lost pieces. Along the way, they make friends, fall in love (maybe) and deal with people from the demon's past.

What do you mean DID watch cartoons? I still do! Even at 53 years old. I love cartoons. I grew up with Bugs Bunny, Tom & Jerry, Droopy, Jonny Quest, The Flinstones, The Jetsons, Bullwinkle and Scooby Doo. And among the newer toons, I liked Dexter's Laboratory, The Tick, and I'm a big Futurama fan. Squidbillies on Adult Swim is pretty funny too.

I'm also a fan of Hayao Miyazaki, who's made such beautiful animated films as Howl's Moving Castle, Princess Mononoke and -- my favorite -- Spirited Away. I also like some anime such as Akira and Ghost in the Machine.

You don't need to be a kid to enjoy cartoons. After all, adults make them. Why can't adults watch them? :)

EDIT: How could I have left out Tex Avery's crazily wonderful work?!?!
