I wish I had known about this sooner. I really want to see it, even though I hate The View. Anyone have a recording up anywhere?

Awesome, thanks. I did a search on YouTube when the thread was first posted, but I guess it was too soon because no one had uploaded it yet.

I wish they would have spent a little more time talking about AS, just to bring it out a little bit more. Almost everyone has heard of Autism but Asperger's is never talked about. I don't understand that. Maybe because it's so new but still when is someone going to start bringing that to the public's attention? I mean, the people on WP aren't the only one's that have it and there are so many people that have it and have never heard of it. That's very frustrating to me.
Then, if you have it and someone finds out or you tell someone, the response is always going to be "WTF are you talking about? You don't have no autism...you're too normal".
It's sad that so many people are going to die thinking they were just born losers and never fit in for no reason, it's just how they are. All because they never heard of AS. It almost pisses me off.

I've never really been a fan of "The View" let alone Rosie so, I didn't watch much of the show and the fact that David Kirby being on there put the show on a list of things I really didn't care to watch. Calling Autism a disease is a turn right there, add on, most of the shows these networks do on Autism even if they try to provide something positive more than not fail due to use of the word 'disease'... then hearing Toni Braxton had been offered support by Autism Speaks... ok... that ended my interest there.

Difficult to watch Rosie... Yank television and all that ...

Why is it OK to call it a disease ?? We're throwing words around, and muddying things up. How can Alcoholism be a disease? Wouldn't it be correct to call it a 'condition' ???

Acutally, the doctor (the Indian woman ... I'm sorry I can't recall her name) was about to mention Asperger's -- but Rosie cut her off rather rudely.

The whole show, to me, was really, really offensive. The girl at the end bordered on exploitation, in my opinion. The boy who was "cured" of autism really wasn't, and Rosie saying that Dr. Grandin "came out of autism" was the last straw. You can't "come out" of autism -- we're not in a coma, for Pete's sake!!  Dr. Grandin was very gracious, I thought, in the face of such ignorance.

Elisabeth Hasselbeck was almost as bad ... I think she's an idiot anyway, but at least she wasn't as offensive as O'Donnell.

It would have been better if the doctor, Toni Braxton and Alex just sat together on the stage for the entire hour talking about Autism, Asperger's and how parents can best help their children. Rosie and Elisabeth should have had duct tape over their big mouths.

So they didn't talk about AS much? Actually, I just realized I was. I was writing a fiction for the NTs (of all things) and I threw in two AS females and matched them up with some really unlikely NTs for my general amusement. During my research on AS (I actually knew about it before, just never thought about me having it.), I realized I had it! The more I read. he more I realized hey, this is me. I suddenly realized why I could write these two characters so well (by the way, my totally NT audience loves them more than any of the NT characters which I just find completely ironic). I did know I didn't fit with the NTs, I just figured it was because my personality profile is the same as only 1% of the population. (I wonder if that's a chicken and egg thing?)

Anyway, I guess I won't watch it if there isn't much about Aspies. I hate the View and I'd only watch it for the Aspie part.

I was really hoping Temple Grandin would correct her for saying that she "came out" or "recovered" from autism.
