Egocentricity: do you empathize with fictional characters?
The whole purpose of TV shows or movies and other creative things like music, art, dance, etc. is to make you feel something. The purpose is to make you feel what the characters are feeling. That's called good acting. I don't think they would put sad or happy music into shows or movies if the directors didn't want to elicit a certain response from the audience.
I don't believe there is much of a connection between this and autism nor is it eccentric.
