Sure. If you make some statement like, "I'm a red corndog," then I will respond with an opposing but related statement such as "No: you're a blue corndog" and then I add an affirming yet more distantly related statement such as, "but you're totally covered with ketchup."

I never had friends in high school also, I was basically a loner. same for college.
