Applying logic, almost every picture in the world can be considered a "selfie." Yearbook pics and class photos would definitely qualify.

"Selfies" are a new art form that came out of cameras on cellphones plus the social networking sites. I was an early participant on deviantart.com and some people were genius at it... and women rule the form too.

Not really. By definition a selfie is a picture of yourself taken by yourself.

Now it has crept into Zelda Windwaker & GTA V and the MLP Facebook asked "twilight" about them! SHEESH! I want to fight monsters in Zelda or kill people in GTA V not take pictures of "myself" (an in game character). That's just silly what's the point? Kill the monster or murder the people to further the story or game along not stop and take pictures for no reason!

the selfies in GTA V are hilarious depending on the context. I like the people who do creative ones by waiting for something funny to come into frame.

I have to admit, I get a good chuckle from looking at some of those.

Taking one selfie is not the problem. I have people in my facebook feed who post a selfie a day. YUCK!

People enjoy sharing and seeing what their friends are doing. It's about connection in addition to self-advertisement, but I've never been motivated to share openly like others. I don't even post my photo online in the first place.

There seems to be an awful lot of hate for others just because they do something hard to understand. It's not like it harms anyone here or they're forced to look at it. It's called editing your Facebook feed.

Cool. I honestly did see IGN a game site take a selfie of Trevor after crashing a Boeing 747 jumbo jet! That was funny. It's just my 14yr. old sister is all into herself. Taking photos in the bathroom of herself at home/at school (clothes on she's a child!) Nothing BAD! Just looking in the mirror take photo of self. I find that behavior silly. I still believe it's best for vacations "Hey I'm at Disney" and personally I have no interest in taking photos of myself. I think I'm ugly. :-) My mom took photos of me and I had my arms crossed and looked like I hated the world. I HATE my photo being taken!! ! ICK!

I mainly thought to ask since "some" not all Aspies tend to not like the latest trend such as some hot reality show that NT's are into so I thought perhaps some Aspies might dislike this "trend" of taking pictures of yourself. That's what gave me the idea for the topic. :-)

When I see photographers and others flip out about "Selfies" it makes me wonder if this how people acted when the bible was first translated into English.

I am not physically attractive so I do not take Selfies. However for the young and attractive I would take pictures daily.

I'm guilty of doing a lot of Facebook posting of pictures of me (and/or including me). Mainly this is because I'm a bodybuilder, and just as when working on any other project, it's fun to show others my progress  .

Maybe it's just me, but every time I see the word "selfie", I think it should be something that belongs in the adults only section

I don't know about anyone else but I do it when I am bored, the only times I do it for any particular reason is if I want to show a friend my new hair cut or something or if I am messing around trying to look like a vampire

I usually enjoy selfies by others. In my experience the one's I see are usually posted by those possessing enough sense to only send those with some degree of entertainment value.

I do not do selfies simply because I am not spontaneously creative enough to capture or even stage something worthwhile.

I have really bad self-esteem, and 90% of the time think I'm ugly.

But I find ways to make myself look pretty or cute in front of the webcam, and take pictures to archive these moments. Selfies improve my self-esteem, who are you to judge?

(By the way my icon is not a selfie, it's actually a still from a video I made.)
